Position Summary
The First Officer (FO) serves as a critical member of the flight crew, collaborating closely with the Captain to ensure the utmost safety and well-being of all passengers and cargo, alongside the seamless execution of flight operations. This role is instrumental in guiding and coordinating the activities of all personnel involved throughout various phases of aircraft operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the aircraft in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company procedures, demonstrating thorough knowledge and understanding of all relevant guidelines.
- Assume operational responsibility to the Captain on all flights, performing all flight duties as assigned.
- Be prepared to assume the authority and responsibilities of the Captain in the event of incapacitation, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the Captain's duties and accepting delegated tasks.
- Maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate at all times, promptly notifying the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, or designee if any medical condition (physical or mental) may impair the ability to perform flight duties.
- Actively collaborate with flight crew and ground teams, embodying Eastern Air Express's values and culture in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail in all operational and interpersonal interactions.
- Contribute to an impeccable safety and training record through diligent adherence to protocols and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of 2,000 total flight hours, including at least 500 hours operating a turbojet aircraft.
- Possession of a valid FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
- Possession of a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Possession of a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
- English language proficiency consistent with at least ICAO Level 4 endorsement.
- A valid passport allowing international travel worldwide.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive drug and alcohol background check, a pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test, and a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (U.S. Passport or Green Card holder required).
- Ability to multitask effectively and perform under pressure in a dynamic aviation environment.
- Willingness to travel as required by operational demands.
- Flexibility to bid for work schedules based on seniority, including day, swing, or midnight shifts, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current type rating on multi-engine aircraft, with strong preference given to those typed on the B-737 aircraft.
- Previous experience operating wide-body aircraft.
- Demonstrated experience with Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles.
Reporting Structure & Compensation
The First Officer reports directly to the Chief Pilot. This position offers a competitive salary and a minimum guarantee of seventy-two (72) hours per month.
Location
This is a home-based position. Successful candidates are required to reside within a two-hour commute of either San Antonio, TX, or Miami, FL.
