Fixed Wing Captain

American Express Aviation seeks a highly skilled and experienced Fixed Wing Captain to join its global Part 91 corporate flight department. This individual will serve as pilot in command (PIC), responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of assigned flight duties, supporting executive travel via business jet and helicopter transport. The Captain will demonstrate strong leadership, coordinating crew functions and completing missions in full compliance with all applicable local, federal, and international regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. This role is based in Newburgh, New York, at Stewart International Airport.

The primary responsibility is to provide safe and professional worldwide air transportation to American Express Aviation clients. The Captain will collaborate closely with all crew members, maintenance technicians, dispatch personnel, and aviation leadership to ensure mission success. Secondary duties may be assigned, related or unrelated to flight, to facilitate effective management of core Aviation functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures aircraft airworthiness, proper registration, and all required documentation is onboard.
  • Verifies weather conditions and relevant NOTAMs, determining fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
  • Calculates aircraft weight and balance.
  • Confirms all flight planning requirements are met.
  • Ensures all crewmembers have valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas.
  • Conducts thorough preflight inspections before each departure.
  • Ensures passenger safety briefings are completed.
  • Coordinates flight planning and execution with Dispatch, Maintenance, crew, and external agencies.
  • Operates the aircraft in accordance with standard operating procedures, aircraft limitations, and FAA/ICAO regulations.
  • Maintains personal currency and ensures crewmember currency before flight.
  • Ensures compliance with customs, immigration, and cabotage laws.
  • Leads the crew using effective crew resource management.
  • Completes all post-flight duties, including notification of deviations to planned itineraries or overnight locations.
  • Accurately records flight times and maintenance items.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required experience with Gulfstream 600/650 aircraft.
  • Proven experience operating large turbine aircraft as PIC.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity for Aviation.
  • An inclusive mindset and behaviors.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in corporate/business aviation.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • FAA-issued Air Transport Pilot certificate with multi-engine rating (GVI or GVII type rating preferred).
  • English proficiency pilot certificate endorsement.
  • Current and maintainable FAA first-class medical certificate.
  • Up-to-date immunization/vaccine record (subject to review by Amex Medical).

Additional Information:

Employment eligibility to work in the U.S. is required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Salary Range: $210,000.00 - $300,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + comprehensive benefits. Salary will be determined by location, experience, and other job-related factors.
