Job Description
The Senior International Captain is responsible for commanding Gulfstream G600 international flights under FAA Part 91 regulations, operating from the Houston base. This critical role requires a seasoned and safety-oriented leader to oversee international flight planning, execute operational decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor crew members. The position is centered on delivering exceptional executive air transportation services.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for Gulfstream G600 international missions, exercising operational control in accordance with company policy and FARs applicable to Part 91.
- Lead flight planning for long-range and oceanic operations, encompassing fuel, payload, and performance calculations, weather analysis, and coordination of overflight/landing permits.
- Coordinate dispatch, crew scheduling, ground handling, and in-flight operational decisions to ensure mission safety and efficiency.
- Conduct and document pre-flight and post-flight inspections, ensuring aircraft airworthiness in collaboration with the Maintenance department and the Chief of Maintenance.
- Maintain currency through recurrent simulator training, proficiency checks, and company-required G600 checks.
- Mentor and train crew members on Crew Resource Management (CRM), Safety Management Systems (SMS), emergency procedures, and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Professionally interact with executives, clients, international authorities, handlers, and vendors.
- Participate in safety programs, risk assessments, and continuous operational improvement initiatives.
- Support recruiting and onboarding processes, and provide subject-matter expertise on vendor selection and operational strategy as requested.
Minimum Requirements
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Valid passport and the ability to obtain necessary international visas and permits.
- Minimum of 6,000+ total flight hours.
- Minimum of 4,000 multi-engine jet flight hours.
- PIC experience in international operations and long-range multi-crew aircraft.
- Thorough understanding of FARs applicable to Part 91 operations and ICAO standards for international flights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Command experience in large cabin, long-range, international business jets, specifically Gulfstream GVII/600/500, GVI/650, or similar models.
- Instructor/evaluator credentials (check airman, TR/FE experience).
- Additional certifications such as A&P or advanced safety SMS training.
- Multilingual skills relevant to destination regions.
- Experience supporting VIP/client-focused executive flight operations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of safety management systems (SMS), human factors, risk mitigation, and CRM.
- Proficiency with Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), flight planning software, FMS operations, and modern avionics systems in a multi-crew environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments and adapt to varied international operations and logistics.
Work Environment and Expectations
- Base: Houston, TX.
- Requires extensive international travel with variable hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to handle extended duty periods in compliance with company fatigue management policies.
- Must be capable of performing pre/post-flight inspections which may involve moderate physical activity and mobility.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary/wage range for this position in Texas, United States of America is USD 153,000 - 352,500 annually. This range reflects base salary; variable incentives may also be offered.
