Our organization seeks a highly qualified and experienced Second-in-Command (SIC) pilot for fixed-wing operations governed by FAR Part 135 regulations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of all assigned flight duties, supporting the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in maintaining the highest standards of operational control, as outlined in Chapter 5 of our General Operations Manual. This position operates under a Tier 2 operational control framework.
This role demands a commitment to safety and adherence to all applicable regulations, including the minimum qualifications stipulated by FAR Part 135.245. The flight schedule follows a rotating seven-day on, seven-day off duty assignment. Pilots work a 12-hour shift (or up to the maximum allowed under Part 135 regulations when on mission), commencing from their home base. Strict adherence to scheduled call-out times is mandatory to ensure timely aircraft departure. Shift assignments (day or night) are established monthly by the Base Lead Pilot, allowing ample time for rest cycle planning. Pilots typically maintain the same duty period throughout their seven-day on-duty cycle, rotating to the alternate period in the subsequent cycle. While changes to duty periods within a seven-day assignment are discouraged, they may be necessary to address operational needs.
