The United States Air Force is seeking a supervisory instructor for its Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) program in an unspecified location. This role involves planning, directing, and organizing non-supervisory instructors, as well as serving as an aircraft simulator and academic instructor for students. Prior aviator experience is highly desirable.
About the Role
This is a supervisory, non-flying position focused on instruction and workforce management within the Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) and Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R) programs. The incumbent will lead and manage instructor staff and provide expert-level instruction on aircraft operations, academic subjects, and simulator use in both national and international airspace environments. This is a mission-essential role requiring the ability to adapt to evolving training tools and methodologies. A Secret security clearance is required.

Previous experience as a rated military aviator (instructor pilot) is highly desirable.

Must possess the intellectual ability to adapt to rapidly changing training tools and methods.

Must be able to stand for several hours at a time while instructing.

May occasionally require travel, overnight stays, and working other than normal duty hours, including shift work, overtime, and irregular hours.

A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required for those new to supervisory roles.

Must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing as this is a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
Qualifications

Must possess a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

For flight instructor roles, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or military equivalent is required.

Minimum flight hour requirements must be met:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours

Night Flying: 75 hours

Flying Time Last 12 months: 100 hours

Instrument Hours: 75 hours

Instructor: 500 hours

Must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate (specific requirements may apply).

Demonstrated ability to instruct at an expert level in a wide variety of interdisciplinary studies including Aerodynamics, Flying Fundamentals, Instrument Flying, Aircraft Systems, Weather, Crew Resource Management, Operating Procedures, Navigation, Safety, and Aircraft Mishap Prevention.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

Skill in using various computer applications, software, and simulator systems.

Skill in utilizing electronic flight bags for training delivery.

Skill in review and analysis techniques for program appraisal and development.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including classroom instruction.
