Fixed Wing Augmentation Pilot
AAR, a leading provider of innovative aerospace solutions, seeks a skilled and dedicated Fixed Wing Augmentation Pilot to join its Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program. Headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, WASS delivers global, world-class aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
The Fixed Wing Augmentation Pilot is a reserve position that will initially be home-based. The incumbent will travel to Rockledge, FL, and various CONUS sites for pre-deployment qualification training. Upon completion of qualification training, the pilot will travel to OCONUS sites as required on a TDY status, pending the availability of a permanent OCONUS rotational position. The role requires the flexibility to travel domestically and internationally for up to 180 days annually, typically in 14 to 60-day intervals, until a full-time flight position for which the pilot is qualified becomes available. It is expected that the pilot will transition into such a full-time position when it becomes available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain aircraft currency requirements in accordance with government guidance.
- Deploy routinely OCONUS to augment various sites with their manning requirements.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of flight plans, taking into account factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities, and navigation aids.
- Supervise or accomplish the aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
- Ensure proper loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers, and verify that the aircraft's weight and balance conform to prescribed limits.
- Maintain responsibility for logging aircraft flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Conduct passenger briefings prior to each take-off.
- Assist in identifying training needs, planning, administering, and overseeing academic programs to develop Fixed Wing crew members within Fixed Wing operations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and present reports and recommendations to management.
- Assist in recruiting qualified candidates for hire.
- Maintain currency with and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, as well as all state and local government policies, standards, procedures, and laws governing aviation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate Airplane, MEL.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating in the selected type is required before assignment.
- Within 90 days of achieving FAA type rating, must complete fixed wing aircraft, DHC-8, Readiness Level (RL) training. Aircraft qualification training will include travel to Iraq in a TDY status.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to 120 days annually at 14-day to 60-day intervals.
- Minimum 250 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA CFI-CFII-MEI.
- FAA ATP rating.
- Prior military pilot and/or pilot support on the DoS INLA program.
- Qualification in the applicable aircraft DHC-8.
- Prior experience as a military standardization pilot or civilian equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
OCONUS Requirements:
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Passport with 18 months remaining validity.
