About the Role:
The WASS Pilot FW Augmentation Pilot will play a pivotal role in supporting the Fixed Wing Standardization Pilot. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks essential to maintaining the highest standards of flight operations, training, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain meticulous adherence to aircraft currency requirements as outlined in government directives.
- Undertake routine deployments (OCONUS) to provide augmentation support to various sites, ensuring operational readiness.
- Demonstrate expertise in flight planning, meticulously factoring in critical elements such as altitude, terrain, weather conditions, range, weight, airport facilities, and navigation aids.
- Conduct and oversee preflight inspections and preparations, ensuring aircraft are in impeccable condition for flight.
- Supervise and manage the loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers, rigorously verifying that the aircraft's weight and balance adhere to prescribed safety limits.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of aircraft flight time, flight plan filings and closures, and flight and duty time, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Deliver professional and informative passenger briefings prior to each takeoff, prioritizing safety and passenger well-being.
- Contribute to the identification of training needs, and actively participate in the planning, administration, and oversight of academic programs designed to develop Fixed Wing crew members.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented training programs, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for management review.
- Assist in the recruitment process by identifying and engaging with qualified candidates for potential hire.
- Stay abreast of and ensure unwavering compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, in addition to state and local government policies, standards, procedures, and laws pertaining to aviation.
- Exhibit flexibility and willingness to undertake additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Standards.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate Airplane, MEL.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Successful completion of FAA Type Rating in the designated aircraft type prior to assignment.
- Completion of fixed-wing aircraft (DHC-8) Readiness Level (RL) training within 90 days of achieving FAA type rating. (Training includes travel to Iraq on a TDY basis.)
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 120 days annually, with trips ranging from 14 to 60 days.
- A minimum of 250 hours of multi-engine pilot-in-command time.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA CFI-CFII-MEI certification.
- FAA ATP rating.
- Prior military pilot experience and/or pilot support experience on the DoS INLA program.
- Qualification in the applicable aircraft (DHC-8).
- Previous experience as a military standardization pilot or equivalent civilian role.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
- Ability to pass physical screening for OCONUS deployments.
- Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining.
