Second Officer
Role Summary
The Second Officer serves as a vital member of the flight crew, acting as Second in Command under the guidance of the Captain or Aircraft Commander. This role is instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight, encompassing both normal and non-normal situations. The Second Officer provides essential support to the Captain and contributes significantly to the overall safety and success of flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides continuous input and assistance to the Captain, actively contributing to the safe and efficient conduct of all flights.
- Represents the airline as a dedicated brand ambassador while on duty, upholding the highest standards of personal discipline, professional conduct, and appearance.
- Accepts responsibility for the duty of care and welfare of both the crew members and passengers onboard.
- Supports the Aircraft Commander in overseeing critical pre-flight aspects, including appropriate fueling, accurate baggage and cargo loading, and proper aircraft servicing.
- Ensures diligent and precise execution of all duties as specified by the instructions and procedures detailed in the company's Operations Manuals.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma.
Licenses
- Hold a valid ICAO First Class Medical Certificate.
- Possess a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument Rating (IR) and have completed Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC) training towards a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
Certifications
- Successfully pass the GCAA Air-law examination (applicable to holders of foreign licenses).
- Achieve English Language Proficiency (ELP) level 4 or higher.
- Provide proof of completion of Military Service (preferred) or present a valid exemption certificate prior to joining.
Languages
- Must be fluent in both English and Arabic.
Experience
Professional Flying Experience
- A minimum of 225 total flying hours is required for candidates aged 20-34.
- A minimum of 1,000 total flying hours is required for candidates aged 35-50.

Information Security Responsibilities
The Second Officer is required to read, understand, and comply with the company's Information Security (ISR) policies. This includes diligently reporting any identified weaknesses or security incidents to the designated Line Manager or the Information Security team. Furthermore, the role necessitates completing all mandatory ISR awareness training sessions and consistently adhering to associated guidelines in all day-to-day operational activities.
