A&P Instructor
This position is responsible for the provision of expert guidance, comprehensive training, and dedicated mentorship to personnel within the Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) apprentice program, as well as to newly employed A&P technicians. The A&P Instructor will deliver detailed instructional content, meticulously evaluate the performance of both technicians and apprentices, and ensure the training curriculum is fully compliant with FAA regulations and prevailing industry standards. The incumbent will leverage their extensive technical knowledge to facilitate the development of critical skills required for the effective inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of aircraft.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct structured training sessions encompassing aircraft maintenance, thorough inspection procedures, and precise repair techniques, all in accordance with FAA and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide consistent guidance and mentorship to A&P apprentices and technicians, offering tailored support and constructive feedback to enhance their proficiency and depth of understanding.
- Evaluate the performance of technicians and apprentices through practical assessments, written examinations, and hands-on demonstrations, ensuring a high standard of competency.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of training materials and curricula, reflecting the latest industry benchmarks and technological innovations.
- Instruct technicians and apprentices on the proficient use of the Corridor computer system for meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities, including the precise completion of required paperwork and work order details.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with general aviation airframes, specifically those supported by Western Aircraft, is essential. Strong instructional abilities, including the capacity to elucidate intricate technical concepts with clarity, are also required. Prior experience in aircraft maintenance instruction is preferred. One (1) year of experience with the Corridor computer system is preferred. Experience with Gulfstream, Falcon, Embraer, Citation, Pilatus, Piper, or King Air aircraft is also highly desirable.
- Education: Possession of Airframe & Powerplant certifications is mandatory. Teaching or instructional certifications are considered a significant advantage.
Other Prerequisites:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation is required.
- The ability to secure an Airport Issued security badge is necessary.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This role is based in an aircraft hangar, a moderately noisy environment. While the employee operates primarily indoors and is sheltered from weather conditions, they may encounter varying temperatures. This role requires the ability to climb, bend at the waist, crawl, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and work at heights. The employee must be able to reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and 25 pounds overhead is also necessary.
