Job Summary:

This position serves as a Pilot in Command (PIC), operating under FAR Parts 135 and/or 91 regulations. The PIC is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight operations, based from Wheeling, IL (PWK). The role involves ensuring strict adherence to all federal aviation regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures, while maintaining clear communication with the Chief Pilot and Flight Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures full compliance with all Trego / Dugan Aviation (TDA) policies and procedures, as well as Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Manages personal duty, flight, and rest times in accordance with CFRs and TDA requirements.
  • Maintains consistent communication with TDA regarding standby duty, trip notifications, and necessary pre- and post-flight reporting.
  • Holds and maintains a current First Class Medical certificate.
  • Communicates flight schedules and any updates accurately and promptly.
  • Identifies and reports any operational or flight department issues directly and promptly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Holds a valid driver’s license.
  • Possesses authorization to work in the U.S. as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Successfully passes a background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Must comply with all Federal Regulations and company policies and procedures, including FAR/GOM/SOP revisions and updates.
  • Total Time: 2000 hours minimum.
  • Total Multi-Engine: 1000 hours minimum.
  • Total Turbine: 250 hours minimum.
  • Holds or has the ability to obtain an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • Holds a current First Class Medical certificate.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
  • Possesses unrestricted ability to travel internationally (e.g., Mexico, Canada).
  • Must reside within a two-hour call-out time of Wheeling, IL (PWK).
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation with a fingerprint-based criminal records check compliant with 14 CFR Part 1542 and TSA requirements.
  • Must pass periodic random drug testing as required by 49 CFR Part 40 for safety-sensitive employees.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted in and around aircraft, Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs), and terminals.
  • Requires physical dexterity sufficient for repetitive tasks and motions, including sustaining positions for extended periods.
  • Requires adequate vision to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to easily lift baggage averaging 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor airport settings, potentially involving significant temperature ranges.
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling, including willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work a variety of assigned shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Type rating in Learjet 45 (LJ45), current or previous. Current LJ45 type rating with 25 hours is strongly preferred, but company is willing to type the right candidate.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate held.
  • Total time of 3000 hours or more.
  • Experience with Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS).
  • Clean FAA record.
  • Bachelor's degree (4-year college degree) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to pass and maintain initial and recurrent type-specific training.
