Pilots must live in the Nashville area to be within a 60 minute drive to BNA.

SUMMARY:

Along with Pilot responsibilities, the Chief Pilot is responsible for the administrative and scheduling responsibilities of the flight operations department. This position does not involve direct supervision of other pilots but involves coordination with flight operations personnel, ground staff, and management to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pilot Duties:

  • Assume the role of Pilot during flight operations, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is airworthy and all necessary equipment is on board
  • Plan and coordinate flight routes, considering weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and operational requirements
  • Operate the aircraft in accordance with aviation regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain situational awareness and promptly respond to any in-flight emergencies or abnormal situations
  • Communicate effectively with air traffic control and crew members to ensure seamless flight operations
  • Make informed decisions regarding flight diversions, delays, or cancellations based on safety and operational considerations
  • Record and document flight hours and cycles associated with each flight

Flight Operations Supervision Duties:

  • Oversee flight operations department administrative activities, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with flight dispatchers, maintenance personnel, and other operational staff to optimize flight schedules and resource allocation
  • Review flight plans, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in fuel calculations, route selection, and aircraft performance considerations
  • Monitor flight operations to identify and resolve any operational issues or disruptions, minimizing impact on passengers and crew
  • Conduct post-flight debriefings, gathering feedback and identifying areas for improvement
  • Ensure and document completion of required flight training and FAA medical exams by each pilot in flight operations
  • Coordinate and ensure insurance is obtained and maintained to adequately cover flight operations
  • Coordinate invoicing and payment under any dry lease arrangements.
  • Maintain the aircraft in accordance with FAA and manufacturer requirements
  • Maintain SIFL database and log of personal use hours
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, technology advancements, and best practices related to flight operations
  • Participate in safety management system activities, including incident reporting, risk assessment, and safety promotion

JOB REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a valid commercial pilot license with appropriate aircraft ratings and type endorsements
  • Extensive flight experience
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety standards, and operational procedures
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and make timely judgments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective coordination with crew members, ground staff, and management
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in using aviation software, flight planning tools, and communication systems
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement in flight operations
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing operational demands and work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
