Southern Airways, a growing airline and a subsidiary of Surf Air Mobility, seeks a dedicated and skilled First Officer to join its dynamic team. This position reports to the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. Current base locations include DUJ, BFD, BRL, LNS, HOT, HRO, ELD, UIN, HNL, OGG, and IPT. The route structure generally allows pilots to be home daily during their work week, with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

The successful candidate must hold a current FAA Commercial Pilot license with Instrument rating, including single and multi-engine land qualifications. A minimum of six months of experience as a pilot is required, along with 500 hours total flight time, inclusive of 100 hours cross-country (25 night hours), and 50 hours turbine or 75 hours instrument time.

Additional requirements include:

  • Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
  • Radio Operators Certificate.
  • Valid US Passport.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Availability and flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Successful completion of a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Compensation and Benefits:

Southern Airways offers an attractive compensation and benefits package.

  • Guaranteed Hours: 65 block hours per month, commencing on the first day of training.
  • Competitive Pay: Pay per block hour is $12 during training, increasing to $15 upon release to the line for pilots under 600 hours; $18 per block hour for 600-900 hours, and $21 per block hour for over 900 hours.
  • Training: Paid, comprehensive training (approximately 25 days) with hotel accommodations. A $20,100 training contract is required.
  • Per Diem: $35 flat rate per diem when on an overnight away from the assigned base.
  • Insurance: Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance, along with company-paid life insurance.
  • Retirement: Opportunity to enroll in the company’s 401(k) plan.
  • Paid Time Off: Accrual of one day of PTO per month, plus paid holidays after a probationary period.
