First Officer Positions at SAS

SAS is actively seeking qualified First Officers to join its expanding flight operations. These positions are based in ARN, BGO, CPH, and OSL, supporting our Embraer 190 and Airbus A320 fleets. This is an excellent opportunity for pilots seeking career advancement with permanent contracts in a dynamic environment. New pilots at SAS will begin their careers operating modern Airbus A320 or Embraer 190 aircraft, experiencing the challenges of both major international airports and remote airfields with varied weather conditions. With dedication and experience, pilots can advance to flying the A350 on international routes or achieve the role of Captain on the EMB190, leading their own crew.

Ideal candidates will possess not only excellent piloting skills but also strong leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities. The candidate must demonstrate resilience and stress management skills, ensuring safe and enjoyable flights for all passengers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi Crew Pilot License. Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses require conversion prior to course commencement.
  • Instrument Rating.
  • EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Completed Advanced UPRT course.
  • English Language Proficiency Level 5 or higher.
  • Right to live and work in the EU.
  • Clean criminal record.

SAS offers a competitive employment package including:

  • Competitive pension scheme.
  • Loss of license and health insurance schemes.
  • A supportive team environment.
  • Discounted travel benefits for employees, their family, and friends.

Recruitment Process

The SAS recruitment process includes an initial online assessment to evaluate candidates’ skills. Successful candidates will be invited to an in-person assessment day. This assessment will involve group tasks, a personal interview, and a simulator evaluation, with 45 minutes as Pilot Monitoring (PM) and 45 minutes as Pilot Flying (PF). Applicants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs to attend the assessment. Successful candidates will start their training as soon as possible. Training courses are scheduled for the winter and spring of 2025, and late summer of 2025. A valid medical certificate is required, with at least three months validity at the start of employment.
