JOB SUMMARY

The Captain is responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. The Captain report directly to the Chief Pilot. The Captain must ensure compliance with all Federal, State, local, and foreign regulations, as well as the company’s policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. The Captain is the company’s most visible representative to the passengers and must act with tact and decorum while ensuring an efficient and safe operation. The Captain must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the corporate aviation field. The Captain relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled.
  • Providing excellent customer service to passengers.
  • Preparing flight plans and studying weather conditions that may affect flights.
  • Making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and change the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.
  • Reviewing and calculating the aircraft performance data to ensure the safety of all flights.
  • This position will work to support the SPX Security Policies.
  • Plays a key role in ensuring SPX Captains comply with laws and regulations; stays abreast of laws and regulations through professional reading, electronic professional websites and internal counsel. Keeps Human Resource team well informed.
  • All duties as directed or modified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of Aviation related software.
  • Excellent decision-making and people skills required.
  • Experienced in FAR Part 91 operations.
  • Experienced in corporate flight operations.
  • Professional training in FAR Part 91 operations.
  • Professional training in Crew Resource Management (CRM).
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced with Microsoft Outlook

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years experience in a related position in a corporate environment.
  • CL604/605 type rating preferred
  • 5000 hours total fixed-wing experience is preferred but not required
  • 1000 hours PIC in jet aircraft is preferred
