Pilot
Job Summary:
This position supports the Aircraft Captain by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft. The pilot will perform essential aircraft management duties while adhering to company policies and procedures, as well as Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Captain in thorough flight planning, utilizing all pertinent weather data and reports, while strictly adhering to company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Conduct comprehensive preflight inspections, ensuring the aircraft's airworthiness is in full compliance with FARs and company guidelines.
- Work in conjunction with the Captain to guarantee that the flight is appropriately planned and fueled for safe and regulatory-compliant operation.
- Safely and proficiently operate the aircraft during designated duty periods, following the Captain's guidance, FARs, and company standards.
- Maintain a deep understanding of all equipment, FARs pertaining to operation, and associated manuals, policies, and instructions.
- Inform crew and passengers of any weather disturbances or other operational variables that could affect the flight.
- Accurately complete the load manifest for each flight.
- Contribute to reliable and on-time operations by assisting the Captain in meeting report, departure, and minimum turn times.
- When at the terminal, ensure proper handling of the aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance according to company procedures and practices.
- Uphold a professional appearance and adhere to the company uniform dress code.
- Conduct all activities in a professional manner while on duty, adhering to the Rules of Conduct outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other relevant policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to improve performance and skills.
- Execute additional duties as assigned by the company and the Captain.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must fulfill the minimum prerequisites for an ATP or RATP certificate.
- ATP written exam completion preferred.
- Must meet current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements as established by the FAA and the company.
- Candidates meeting interview minimums but not hiring minimums, will be considered for hire if they meet the hiring minimums within six months of the interview, have no certificate actions or legal issues since the interview date, and accept a class date within six months of the interview date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service, preferably within an aviation setting.
Language Skills:
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and understanding technical procedures and governmental regulations, sometimes under time constraints and stress.
- Ability to effectively convey information to and respond to questions from various stakeholders including management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the public.
- Must speak and be understood in English, including the use of verbal commands during emergencies.
Reasoning and Problem Solving:
- Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and adapt to situations where standard procedures might be limited.
- Capability to understand and follow varied instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must maintain composure and respond quickly in emergency scenarios, including medical issues, decompression, evacuations, fires, security, passenger disruptions, and turbulence.
Decision Making and Impact:
- Ability to make decisions that support strategic goals.
- Capacity to make decisions that have moderate impact and consequences with the possibility of significant impact in unusual situations and regarding safety.
- Proficiency in processing information and responding in a positive manner during unexpected and/or critical incidents.
- Must be capable of controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and/or crawl.
- Ability to sit without standing for long periods.
- Capability of lifting or moving items at varied heights, up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to meet the visual requirements outlined in the FAA’s medical standards.
- Ability to hear clearly verbal communication in-person, on the telephone, and via headset, with ambient aircraft and passenger noise present.
- Possess the stamina to work long days for several days, under changing temperatures, climate, and weather conditions.
- Ability to move freely and quickly within the aircraft to perform all required functions.
- Must be able to sit in pilot’s seat or assigned jump seat without modifications using seatbelt and shoulder harness.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions while in an open-air hangar or on the flight line for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in a potentially loud environment and use headsets as required.
- Willing and able to work extended duty periods on consecutive days, as well as varied schedules including early mornings, nights, overnights and weekends.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays and overnight stays.
- Must be able to work extended hours with a lack of scheduling control and report to work with minimal notice.
- Must be willing to relocate based on company operational needs.
