Pilot

A qualified pilot is needed to support the aircraft Captain, ensuring the safe and timely operation of aircraft, and performing essential aircraft management duties. This position requires adherence to Company policies and procedures, as well as Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Captain in flight planning, utilizing weather information and reports in accordance with company policies, procedures, and FARs.
  • Determine aircraft airworthiness through preflight inspections, ensuring compliance with FARs and company policies.
  • Participate in ensuring flights are planned and fueled correctly for safe operation.
  • Operate the aircraft safely and effectively, following the Captain’s instructions, FARs, and Company policies.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of aircraft equipment, relevant FARs, manuals, procedures, and other instructions.
  • Inform crew and passengers of any conditions affecting the flight such as turbulence.
  • Prepare the load manifest for each flight.
  • Contribute to reliable, on-time operations by assisting the Captain in meeting all report, departure, and turn times.
  • Aid in the proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo at the terminal.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance according to company protocols.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
  • Conduct oneself professionally at all times, adhering to the Rules of Conduct outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other relevant documents.
  • Pursue ongoing professional training to improve performance and skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Company and Captain.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
  • ATP written preferred.
  • Must meet current interview and hiring age and flight hour requirements set by the FAA and Company.

Hiring Conditions:

If a candidate interviews with the interview minimums, but not the hiring minimums, they will be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process if they:

  • Meet the Hiring Minimums within six months of the interview date.
  • Have no certificate action since the date of the interview.
  • Have no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
  • Accept class date within six months of the interview date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior customer service experience, ideally within an aviation setting.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and government regulations, including in stressful and emergency situations.
  • Effective communication skills to present information to and respond to questions from various stakeholders, such as management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the public.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English, including spoken commands in emergency conditions.

Reasoning/Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, even where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret diverse instructions presented in various formats, such as written, oral, diagrams, or schedules.
  • Must remain calm and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, such as medical issues, decompression, evacuations, fires, security issues, disturbances, and turbulence.

Decision-Making and Impact of Errors:

  • Able to make decisions to support the strategic direction of the company.
  • Decisions are typically of medium significance with moderate consequences, but they may impact safety during unusual situations.
  • Decisions might involve the expenditure of additional resources if not made soundly.
  • Able to process information rapidly and react positively during unexpected or serious situations.
  • Capable of controlling personal and emotional reactions appropriately under high stress.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl.
  • Able to sit without standing for long periods.
  • Capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 75 pounds at different heights.
  • Must adhere to FAA visual standards.
  • Able to clearly hear verbal communications in person, via telephone, and through a headset with background aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Possess the stamina to work long shifts for several days in varied climate and weather conditions.
  • Able to move about the aircraft freely and quickly in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to sit in the pilot's or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without modifications.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Able to work in outdoor weather conditions both in an open-air hangar and on the flight line.
  • Noise level can be loud; the use of headsets is required.
  • Willing and able to work extended duty periods on sequential days, as well as a varied schedule including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
  • Able to work extended hours, with irregular scheduling, and be prepared to report to work on short notice.
  • Willing to relocate based on company needs.
