First Officer Position at Republic Airways

This crucial role supports the Captain in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely operation of our Embraer 170/175 aircraft fleet. Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in pre-flight planning, utilizing all available weather information and adhering strictly to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to confirm aircraft airworthiness in accordance with FARs and company procedures.
- Collaborate with the Captain to ensure accurate flight planning, including fuel calculations, to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
- Operate the aircraft safely and proficiently throughout the assigned duty period, following the Captain's instructions and adhering to FARs and company policies.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, and all company manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with crew and passengers regarding weather conditions and other operational factors affecting the flight.
- Complete accurate load manifests for each flight.
- Contribute to on-time performance by assisting the Captain in adhering to all reporting, departure, and turnaround times.
- Provide assistance with aircraft handling, passenger service, baggage, and cargo management at the terminal.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance in accordance with company protocols.
- Present a professional image at all times, adhering to the company’s dress code and code of conduct as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual and Associate Handbook.
- Actively pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Captain or management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must meet minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate; ATP written exam preferred.
- Must satisfy current FAA and company minimum age and flight hour requirements for interview and hire. Candidates meeting interview minimums but not hiring minimums may be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process, contingent on meeting hiring minimums within six months, maintaining a clean certificate record, absence of misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date, and acceptance of a training class date within six months.
- Prior customer service experience in an aviation environment is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the public, including clear communication during emergency situations. Proficiency in English is mandatory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and react decisively in emergency situations (medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.).
- Proven ability to make sound decisions, particularly those with safety-of-flight implications, even under pressure.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the position, including climbing, lifting up to 75 pounds, and meeting FAA visual and auditory standards; the ability to work long hours and varied schedules is required.
Work Environment:
This position involves exposure to various work environments, including outdoor weather conditions, potentially loud noise levels (headset use required), moving mechanical parts, and confined spaces within the aircraft. The role requires flexibility with scheduling, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and extended duty periods on consecutive days. Up to 100% travel is expected, including overnight stays. Relocation may be required based on operational needs.
