First Officer - Republic Airways
Overview
Republic Airways is seeking a highly skilled and motivated First Officer to join our team. As a First Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely operation of our aircraft, working in close collaboration with the Captain. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of one of North America's largest regional airlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Flight Planning and Preparation: Collaborate with the Captain to meticulously plan each flight, incorporating all applicable weather information and reports in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Aircraft Safety and Readiness: Conduct comprehensive preflight inspections, ensuring the aircraft meets all FARs and Company standards for airworthiness.
- Operational Expertise: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of aircraft systems, applicable FARs, and company manuals, policies, and procedures.
- In-Flight Responsibilities: Safely and effectively operate the aircraft during the designated duty period, following the Captain's instructions, FARs, and Company guidelines.
- Communication and Coordination: Clearly communicate with the crew, passengers, air traffic control, and other relevant parties, including during emergency situations.
- Flight Operations Management: Assist the Captain in maintaining on-time operations, adhering to all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times.
- Passenger and Cargo Handling: Contribute to efficient passenger and cargo handling at the terminal, ensuring smooth and safe operations.
- Professionalism and Compliance: Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company uniform dress code. Uphold the high standards of conduct outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other related policies and procedures.
- Continuous Learning and Development: Actively pursue professional training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
- ATP written is preferred.
- Meet the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hours requirements set by the FAA and Company.
- Alternative Hiring Criteria: Candidates who meet the interview minimums but not the hiring minimums will be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process, provided they:
- Meet the Hiring Minimums within six months of the interview date.
- Have no certificate action since the date of the interview.
- Have no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
- Accept a class date within six months of the interview date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior customer service experience, ideally in an aviation setting.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Communication: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations, particularly under pressure or emergency situations. Effective communication with management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public is essential. Fluency in English, including the ability to communicate clearly under stressful conditions, is required.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, handling a variety of situations with limited standardization. Interpret multiple instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats. Maintain composure and make sound decisions during unexpected or critical events, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
- Decision-Making Impact: Make decisions that align with strategic direction, often involving medium-range implications and moderate consequences. Decisions may have significant safety-of-flight implications in unusual circumstances. Exhibit the ability to process information quickly and react appropriately under high stress levels.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and/or crawl.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Capable of lifting or moving objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Adherence to FAA medical standards, including visual requirements.
- Ability to hear clearly during in-person conversations, telephone calls, and headset communication in a noisy environment.
- Physical stamina to work long hours, on sequential days, with frequent changes in temperature and weather conditions.
- Ability to move freely and effectively in confined spaces within the aircraft.
- Ability to sit comfortably in the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
Work Environment:
- Work near moving mechanical parts.
- Tolerance for outdoor weather conditions in open-air hangars and on the flight line.
- Ability to work in loud environments, requiring the use of a headset.
- Willingness and ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days, including varied schedules involving early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
- Ability to work extended hours with limited scheduling control and be ready to report to work with short notice.
- Willingness to relocate based on operational needs.
