The Role:
The First Officer partners with the Captain to maintain the highest safety standards while providing an exceptional travel experience for our passengers. This comprehensive role encompasses all aspects of flight operations, from pre-flight planning and aircraft inspection to in-flight management and post-flight procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Captain to meticulously plan each flight, utilizing weather information, company policies, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to verify aircraft airworthiness in accordance with FARs and company procedures.
- Ensure flight plans and fuel calculations align with safety regulations and operational requirements.
- Expertly operate the aircraft during flight, following the Captain's instructions and adhering to all FARs and company procedures.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, and company manuals.
- Communicate effectively with crew and passengers regarding flight conditions and operational updates.
- Complete load manifests accurately for each flight.
- Contribute to on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all reporting, departure, and turnaround times.
- Ensure the safe and efficient handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo while at the terminal.
- Maintain a professional appearance consistent with company uniform standards.
- Conduct oneself professionally at all times, adhering to the company's code of conduct as outlined in relevant manuals and policies.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Meet minimum ATP or RATP certificate requirements
- ATP written exam preferred
- Meet FAA and company age and flight hour requirements for interviewing and hiring (candidates meeting interview minimums, but not hiring minimums within six months of the interview date, may be considered with additional conditions)
- Previous customer service experience, preferably in aviation, is highly valued.
Essential Skills:
- Strong command of English language, including clear communication under pressure and in emergency situations
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to react calmly and decisively under pressure
- Capacity to remain focused and make sound judgments in high-stress situations, including emergencies
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and maintain a professional demeanor
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 75 pounds, sitting for extended periods, and maneuvering in confined spaces
- Meet FAA medical standards for vision and hearing
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
Travel:
This position requires extensive travel (up to 100%) with potential for relocation based on operational needs.
