First Officer
Republic Airways, a leading regional airline in North America, seeks a dedicated and skilled First Officer to join its team of aviation professionals. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of Embraer 170/175 aircraft.
Responsibilities:
The First Officer will work closely with the Captain to:
- Plan flights meticulously: Utilize all available weather information and reports, adhering to Company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Ensure aircraft airworthiness: Conduct thorough preflight inspections, confirming compliance with FARs and Company regulations.
- Optimize flight planning: Collaborate with the Captain to ensure proper fueling and route planning for safe and compliant operations.
- Operate the aircraft safely and effectively: Execute flight duties under the Captain's direction, adhering to FARs and Company protocols.
- Maintain expert knowledge: Stay abreast of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, manuals, policies, and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively: Keep the crew and passengers informed of turbulence, weather conditions, and any factors impacting the flight.
- Manage flight documentation: Accurately complete load manifests for each flight.
- Support on-time performance: Assist the Captain in meeting all report times, departure times, and turnaround targets.
- Provide excellent ground support: Facilitate smooth aircraft handling, passenger boarding, and baggage/cargo management at the terminal.
- Uphold professional standards: Maintain impeccable appearance in accordance with the Company uniform dress code. Conduct oneself professionally at all times, adhering to the Rules of Conduct outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and related policies.
- Embrace continuous learning: Actively pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Meet minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate (ATP written preferred)
- Satisfy FAA and Company age and flight hour requirements for interview and hiring
- Prior customer service experience, preferably in aviation, is highly desirable
Essential Skills:
- Strong understanding and ability to interpret technical procedures and government regulations
- Excellent communication skills, including clear and concise verbal communication in English, especially under pressure or in emergencies
- Proficient problem-solving abilities in dynamic operational environments
- Ability to remain calm and react decisively in all types of emergencies
- Strong decision-making skills with an understanding of the impact on safety and resource allocation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl
- Lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds at various heights
- Meet FAA visual acuity standards
- Clear hearing in person, on the telephone, and over a headset amidst aircraft noise
- Stamina to work long hours, on consecutive days, adapting to fluctuating temperatures and weather conditions
- Full mobility within the confined space of the aircraft cockpit
Work Environment & Travel:
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and loud noise levels
- Willingness to work flexible and demanding schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended duty periods
- Extensive travel up to 100% of the time, including overnight stays and potential relocation based on operational needs
