First Officer
Republic Airways is seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals to join their team as First Officers. This crucial role supports the Aircraft Captain in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of flights, adhering to the highest standards of professionalism and aviation regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Captain in meticulous flight planning, utilizing all available weather data and adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company protocols.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to guarantee the aircraft's airworthiness, in compliance with FARs and company procedures.
- Partner with the Captain to ensure appropriate flight planning and fuel calculations for safe and regulation-compliant operations.
- Execute safe and proficient aircraft operation during assigned duty periods, following the Captain's instructions, FARs, and company policies.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the aircraft's systems, relevant FARs, operational manuals, company policies, and other essential guidelines.
- Proactively communicate with crew members and passengers regarding turbulence or any factors potentially impacting the flight.
- Diligently complete the load manifest for each flight, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
- Contribute to the airline's on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all reporting, departure, and minimum turn times.
- Provide assistance with aircraft handling, passenger management, baggage loading, and cargo operations while at the terminal.
- Maintain impeccable attendance records in accordance with company policies and present a professional image by adhering to the uniform dress code.
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times while on duty, upholding the company's Rules of Conduct as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other pertinent policies.
- Actively pursue continuous professional development opportunities to enhance skills and maintain the highest level of proficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate, with ATP written preferred.
- Satisfy the current FAA and company interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements.
- Prior experience in a customer service role, preferably within the aviation industry, is highly desirable.

- Exceptional ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical documents, including procedures and governmental regulations, often under time constraints or in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills, enabling effective information presentation and response to inquiries from various stakeholders, including management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the public.
- Fluency in English, including the ability to clearly articulate shouted commands during emergency situations.
- Proven problem-solving aptitude, capable of handling diverse situations with limited standardization, and effectively interpreting instructions delivered in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
- Capacity to remain calm, think clearly, and respond decisively in all types of emergencies, including medical situations, aircraft decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
- Sound decision-making skills aligned with strategic objectives, recognizing the potential impact on resources and safety.
- Ability to process information rapidly and react appropriately in unexpected or critical situations, maintaining composure and emotional control under pressure.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, and sitting for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 75 pounds at varying heights.
- Meet the FAA's visual acuity standards for pilots.
- Excellent auditory acuity, enabling clear communication in person, over the phone, and through a headset amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Stamina to work long hours on consecutive days, adapting to frequent changes in temperature, climate, and weather conditions.
- Ability to move freely and efficiently within the confined space of an aircraft and comfortably occupy the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without modification.
- Willingness to work near moving mechanical parts and endure exposure to outdoor weather conditions on the flight line and within open hangars for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a loud environment requiring headset use.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays, often with limited scheduling control and the potential for short notice.
Travel:
This position requires up to 100% travel, including overnight stays, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be adaptable to a fluctuating schedule and willing to relocate based on operational needs.
