Position Summary
RTX Corporation is seeking a professional Rotary-Wing Executive Aircraft Captain to join its Corporate Flight Operations team. This exciting opportunity involves performing the duties of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on RTFlight owned or leased executive aircraft, primarily supporting the transportation of RTX personnel and customers. The position is full-time, onsite, and based out of the East Granby, CT location (BDL), with assignment to the fleet of Leonardo AW-139 aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on company aircraft, transporting passengers, material, or the aircraft itself.
- Maintains exceptional situational awareness and exercises sound judgment in all flight and ground operations.
- Executes flights safely and efficiently, adhering strictly to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and RTFlight policies and procedures.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles effectively, leveraging all available resources including checklists, instrumentation, crewmembers, and Air Traffic Control (ATC).
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FAA regulations (FARs), and ICAO regulations.
- Ensures proficiency in related disciplines essential for safe flight planning and execution, such as Meteorology.
- Maintains all required flight currency requirements without exception.
- Exercises final authority over trip execution to ensure the highest level of safety for passengers and the aircraft.
- Monitors fellow crewmembers' adherence to established FAA and RTFlight standards.
- Provides constructive feedback to colleagues and supports the development of others.
- Actively participates in and applies learning from company-sponsored training programs.
- Implements and maintains processes within the scope of responsibility in accordance with current ISBAO requirements.
- Ensures all activities comply with RTX and Government Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), and Ethics policies and guidelines.
- Must be able to travel worldwide without restriction as dictated by business needs and client requirements.
- Performs additional duties and assumes varying responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- Minimum of 3500 hours of total pilot flight experience.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in assigned aircraft.
- Proven record of strict adherence to established FAA regulations, Company policies, and procedures.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1,000 hours acting as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) of a turbine-powered helicopter.
- Experience in VIP rotary-wing operations, particularly within NYC airspace and associated helipads.
- Extensive rotary-wing Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) experience.
- Experience operating the Leonardo AW139 platform.
- Candidates holding at least Commercial Pilot Privileges with an Instrument Rating in fixed-wing aircraft may be considered for a dual-rated position.
- Ability to consistently make logical and effective decisions under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions, utilizing sound cockpit management principles.
- Professional bearing and strong interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.

Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this role is 147,000 USD to 295,000 USD. The final compensation offer will consider factors such as role, function, responsibilities, candidate experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Work Location & Relocation
This is an onsite position based in East Granby, CT. All RTFlight pilots are required to maintain their primary residence within a one-hour driving distance of the assigned base of operations (East Granby, CT). This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
U.S. Requirements
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship or seek export authorization for this position. Security clearance is not required.
