Helicopter Pilot - Executive Aircraft Captain

RTX Corporation seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as a Rotary-Wing Executive Aircraft Captain within its Corporate Flight Operations team. This pivotal role involves performing Pilot-in-Command duties aboard RTX-owned or leased aircraft, primarily the Leonardo AW-139, to safely and efficiently transport company personnel and customers. The position is a full-time, onsite role based out of the RTX Flight Operations facility in East Granby, Connecticut (BDL).

Key Responsibilities:

• Serving as Pilot-in-Command for the safe transportation of passengers, material, and aircraft, utilizing professional flying and flight planning skills.
• Ensuring flights are conducted in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and RTFlight policies and procedures.
• Maintaining acute situational awareness and exercising sound judgment in all operational decisions, both in-flight and on the ground.
• Effectively utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and available resources, including checklists, instrumentation, other crewmembers, and ATC.
• Routinely reviewing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FARs, and ICAO regulations.
• Maintaining proficiency in relevant supporting disciplines, such as Meteorology, essential for safe trip planning and execution.
• Ensuring all flight currency requirements are consistently met.
• Exercising ultimate authority over all aspects of the trip to guarantee passenger and aircraft safety.
• Monitoring crewmember adherence to established FAA and RTFlight standards.
• Providing constructive feedback and coaching to colleagues to foster performance enhancement.
• Actively participating in and applying knowledge gained from company-sponsored training programs.
• Implementing and maintaining processes within the scope of control aligned with current ISBAO requirements.
• Ensuring all activities comply with applicable RTX and Government Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Ethics policies and guidelines.
• Traveling worldwide without restriction as dictated by business needs.
• Undertaking additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
• A minimum of 3500 hours of pilot flight experience.
• Demonstrated technical expertise specific to assigned aircraft types.
• A proven history of strict adherence to established FAA regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 12 years of relevant prior experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 1000 hours acting as Pilot-in-Command of a turbine-powered helicopter.
• Experience in VIP rotary-wing operations, particularly within NYC airspace and helipads.
• Extensive rotary-wing Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) experience.
• Experience operating the Leonardo AW139 platform.
• Consideration may be given to candidates holding at least Commercial Pilot Privileges with an Instrument Rating in fixed-wing aircraft for a potential dual-rated position.
• Ability to consistently make logical and effective decisions under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions, employing sound cockpit management principles.
• Exhibition of professional bearing and strong interpersonal skills.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.

Work Location & Residency:

This is an onsite position based at 200 Signature Way, East Granby, CT, 06026 USA. All RTFlight pilots are required to maintain their primary residence within one hour driving distance of their assigned base of operations in East Granby, CT.

Citizenship & Immigration Status:

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring company immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship or seek an export authorization for this role. Security Clearance is not required.

The salary range for this role is estimated to be between $147,000 USD and $295,000 USD, dependent on various factors including experience, education, skills, and location. Relocation assistance is eligible for this position. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, and paid time off, along with potential annual incentive compensation programs based on individual, business unit, and/or company performance (payments are not guaranteed).
