Position Summary:
George J. Priester Aviation seeks a highly skilled and professional First Officer/Second in Command (SIC) to support the safe and efficient operation of its aircraft. The SIC plays a critical role by assisting the Pilot in Command (PIC) with all flight duties. This position requires close collaboration with the PIC to ensure all flight operations adhere strictly to company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and industry standards. The SIC is instrumental in monitoring aircraft systems, managing communications with flight services, and contributing to a seamless flight experience for passengers. Success in this role demands a high level of professionalism, acute safety awareness, and exceptional customer service.
This particular account operates a Challenger 350 aircraft within a 3-pilot flight department. The operation is primarily based in Boca Raton, FL, and Chicago, IL, and is expected to operate approximately 300 flight hours per year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Flight Operations Support: Assists the PIC in all phases of flight planning and execution, including weather analysis, route planning, aircraft performance calculations, and pre-flight inspections. Ensures strict compliance with applicable regulations, standard operating procedures, and the company’s Flight Operations Manual.
- In-flight Monitoring & Navigation: Actively monitors aircraft instrumentation and systems throughout all flight phases. Operates navigational and communication systems as directed by the PIC, managing clearances and relaying instructions efficiently.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Maintains superior crew coordination and communication, providing constructive feedback to the PIC and fellow crew members to ensure safe and efficient flight operations. Actively participates in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) for risk identification and mitigation.
- Pre-flight & Post-flight Duties: Supports pre-flight inspections and ensures the aircraft is prepared for flight, including cleanliness, stocking, and ensuring all required manuals, charts, and passenger-specific items are onboard. Assists with post-flight procedures and required documentation.
- Safety & Emergency Procedures: Remains vigilant for abnormal situations or deviations. Prepared to assume control of the aircraft in the event of PIC inattention or incapacitation to prevent hazards. Participates in safety audits, corrective action plans, and preventive safety measures.
- Passenger Service: Contributes to providing an excellent passenger experience, ensuring passenger comfort and safety throughout the flight. Supports the PIC in addressing passenger needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 500 - 2500 total flight hours required.
- Minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft required.
- Turbine experience preferred.
- Certifications:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine instrument rating or higher required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and flight operations procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to function effectively as part of a professional flight crew team.
- Proficiency in Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and flight management systems.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for charter flight assignments.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds when handling baggage and equipment.
- Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally and for extended periods as required by the dynamic flight schedule.
