First Officer / Second in Command

George J. Priester Aviation, a distinguished leader in the Part 135 charter industry, seeks a highly motivated and skilled First Officer/Second in Command (SIC) to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the company's aircraft, upholding its commitment to safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer satisfaction. This position is based in Wheeling, IL (PWK) and operates a Citation XLS+ within a two-pilot flight department, flying an estimated 300-350 hours annually.

Position Summary:

The First Officer/SIC is responsible for assisting the Pilot in Command (PIC) in all flight duties, ensuring compliance with company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and industry best practices. This role requires diligent monitoring of aircraft systems, effective communication with flight services, and a dedication to providing a seamless flight experience for passengers. The position demands a high degree of professionalism, safety awareness, and customer service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PIC in the planning and execution of flight operations, encompassing weather analysis, route planning, performance calculations, and pre-flight inspections.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all applicable regulations, standard operating procedures, and the company's Flight Operations Manual.
  • Monitor aircraft instrumentation and systems during all phases of flight.
  • Operate navigational and communication radios, receiving clearances and relaying instructions as directed by the PIC.
  • Promote effective crew resource management (CRM), fostering open communication and feedback to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Actively participate in the company's Safety Management System (SMS), identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Assist in pre-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is clean, stocked, and prepared for departure.
  • Verify that all necessary manuals, charts, and passenger-specific items are onboard before each flight.
  • Support post-flight procedures and documentation.
  • Maintain vigilance for abnormal situations or deviations from standard operating procedures, and assume control of the aircraft when necessary.
  • Engage in safety audits and contribute to corrective action and preventative measures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
  • Support the PIC in addressing passenger needs and delivering a high-quality flight experience.

Qualifications:

  • 500-2500 total flight hours, including a minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Turbine experience is preferred.
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine instrument rating or higher is required.
  • Current First-Class Medical Certificate is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and flight operations procedures.
  • Exceptional communication and decision-making skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Crew Resource Management (CRM) and flight management systems.
  • Must be able to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for charter flight assignments.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds when handling baggage and equipment.
  • Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel for extended periods as required by the flight schedule.
