Role Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Simulator Instructor is a key contributor within the Flight Operations training department. This individual plays a direct role in supporting the airline's growth by working closely with the Check Airman Supervisor and Flight Training Administration. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that early-stage pilot training is efficiently scheduled, progressing successfully, and that all training records are properly retained. The Instructor also assists the Director of Training and the Manager of Simulator Training and Standards in maintaining current departmental goals, policies, and procedures. This is a dedicated training position; the Instructor will not be line-qualified or placed on the PSA Pilot Seniority list.

Key Instructional and Administrative Duties

  • Provides essential early-stage Flight Instruction within a Full Flight Simulator (FFS), complemented by occasional ground instruction.
  • Instructs Initial, Upgrading, and Transitioning PSA Pilots, ensuring adherence to the highest training standards.
  • Strictly adheres to Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures the accurate and timely completion and retention of all student training records.
  • Accepts and executes developmental duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Maintains responsibility for compliance with the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS), including associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performs other duties essential to the Flight Operations training curriculum as directed.

Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience

Required Criteria

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold a current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
  • Must be eligible for a CL-65 Pilot in Command (PIC) Type Rating.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, with mandatory ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • If hired, the candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Experience

Highly competitive candidates will possess:

  • Previous experience as a 121 check airman.
  • Prior experience as a 121 instructor.

Work Environment and Compliance

Work Setting

This role operates primarily in a professional office environment. While largely a sedentary role utilizing standard office equipment (computers, telephones), the physical demands require the employee to frequently stand, walk, climb up and down stairs, lift weight up to 25 lbs, and reach with hands and arms.

Security and Screening

All employees are mandated to pass a fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) as per 49CFR1542.209, as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
