This critical role contributes directly to life-saving missions, providing rapid and precise critical care transport. Qualified applicants may be eligible for a customer bonus of $30,000 and a sign-on bonus of up to $50,000.

The Role

The Pilatus PC-24 First Officer operates within PHI Air Medical's Airplane Air Ambulance (HAA) operations, adhering to CAMTS guidelines. This is a two-pilot crew position requiring an instrument rating (IFR). The role involves participation in 24-hour operations, including day and night rotations.

Key Responsibilities

The First Officer performs line pilot duties in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM). Responsibilities include supporting the Safety Management System, Destination Zero initiatives, and other company safety campaigns. The First Officer works collaboratively with internal and external customers to ensure safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service. The role also requires assisting with some lifting to facilitate the loading and unloading of patients and equipment. Successful candidates are expected to participate in community outreach programs and adhere strictly to PHI Air Medical policies.

Schedule and Location

This position follows a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule. The base location is Houston, Texas, and the successful candidate must reside within a one-hour commute of the base.

Compensation and Benefits

PHI Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support its team members. This package includes competitive base pay, shift bonuses, shift incentives, an Annual Safety Bonus, an Annual Employee Bonus, and additional benefits.

Relocation and Service Requirements

A relocation package may be available. If a relocation package is utilized, a minimum service requirement of two years applies. If the successful applicant requires aircraft transition training provided by the company, a minimum service requirement of one year applies. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Current and qualified on the VE7A certificate.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Airplane, Multi-engine land ratings.
  • Current First Class Medical certificate.
  • Meet CAMTS requirements for an SIC position in this operation, including:
    • ATP certificate.
    • 2,000 total airplane hours.
    • 1,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) multi-engine.
    • 500 hours as PIC in multi-engine airplanes.
    • 100 night hours.
  • Preference may be given to Pilots currently assigned to the KC Children's Mercy Program.
  • Possess strong communication, internal, and external customer service skills.
  • Must be interviewed and accepted by both customer and PHI management.
  • Successfully complete required medical screenings, including tuberculosis screening; two Varivax vaccinations or positive varicella titer; two MMR vaccinations or positive titers for rubella, rubeola, and mumps; tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis vaccine if greater than two (2) years since last tetanus diphtheria vaccine booster; Hepatitis B vaccination series history and a positive hepatitis B surface antibody titer for staff with risk for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material; and annual flu vaccination (within the last twelve months).
  • Meet a body weight requirement not exceeding 235 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a pre-placement physical exam, including a functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, ability to lift 100 pounds to assist in loading and unloading patients and equipment), drug screening, and background screen.
  • This position requires the Covid Vaccination.
