Position Overview
The Helicopter Pilot operates PHI's advanced helicopters for patient transport, as well as for essential maintenance and administrative flights. This position requires a proactive approach to flight operations, carefully evaluating safety, weather conditions, aircraft status, performance, airport environments, and FAA compliance for each mission. All operations are conducted in strict accordance with PHI, Inc.'s Operations Manual and Policies and Procedures Manual, adhering to CAMTS guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring meticulous and accurate completion of all flight documentation.
- Maintaining constant communication with the Lead Pilot or Area Manager regarding aircraft operational status and airworthiness.
- Representing PHI Health with professionalism, ensuring a neat appearance and courteous interaction with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Promptly reporting all aircraft mechanical malfunctions in the engineering logbook.
- Communicating essential mission details, including itineraries and estimated times of arrival, with the medical crew, passengers, Communication Center, and Maintenance.
- Safely loading and unloading stretcher patients and/or isolettes onto the aircraft.
- Completing all required written logs and reports in compliance with company and FAA regulations.
- Actively supporting company Safety Management System initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating is mandatory.
- Must meet PHI's total flight time requirements.
- A strong aptitude for customer service is essential.
- Current Class II FAA Medical Certificate required.
- Minimum of 2000 total flight hours, with at least 1500 helicopter hours.
- A minimum of 1000 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours in helicopters.
- Must meet and maintain the weight restriction limit for flight personnel as per company policy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including effective radio communication.
- Ability to pass a pre-placement physical examination, including a functional capacity exam (strength, flexibility, and a 100-pound lift assessment), drug screening, and background check.
Operational Details:
- Aircraft Type: S76 (2-Pilot Crew)
- Flight Operations: IFR/NVG (Instrument Flight Rules/Night Vision Goggle) capabilities required.
- Schedule: 24-hour operations with day/night rotation.
- Base Location: Kansas City, MO.
- Commute Requirement: Must reside within a 1-hour commute of the base.
- Minimum Service Requirement: 1 year if aircraft transition is required; 2 years if a relocation package is utilized.
