Responsibilities:
The Manager of Pilot Training is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all pilot training programs at NAC Cargo, in close collaboration with the Vice President of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot. Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining current training programs and modules, ensuring compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, company policies, and evolving industry best practices.
- Maintaining comprehensive and accessible pilot training records, adhering to the standards outlined in the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM).
- Leading a team of flight operations training personnel, encompassing recruitment, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Coordinating training schedules with crew scheduling and the Chief Pilot to meet both FAA requirements and operational needs.
- Developing and updating training materials, manuals, and processes to continuously improve pilot training effectiveness.
- Managing the Crew Resource Management (CRM) Program.
- Assigning and overseeing projects for check airmen and instructors, providing regular progress updates to the Chief Pilot.
- Maintaining and updating the FOTM and related company manuals.
- Fostering a strong working relationship with the FAA Principal Operations Inspector (POI) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Promoting a culture of professionalism and standardization within the flight crews through effective training.
- Conducting audits of flight crew records and training programs.
- Ensuring the accurate and timely completion and filing of all training records.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Significant experience in airline flight operations training, demonstrating a thorough understanding of applicable FARs.
- Proven supervisory experience.
- Substantial experience in flight training administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including senior management, crew members, and external agencies.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation and applying complex information to practical scenarios.
- Competency in Microsoft Windows 2010, Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint), and web browsers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in developing training curricula is highly valued.
- Type rating in complex, transport category aircraft is preferred.
Reasoning Ability:
The successful candidate will possess the ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions. They will also demonstrate the ability to interpret complex technical instructions in various formats and handle multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Travel:
This position requires approximately 50-60% travel to meet the company's training needs.
Physical Demands:
The role involves primarily sedentary work with occasional manual dexterity required for tasks such as word processing, report compilation, and data entry.
