Position Summary
Metrea Strategic Mobility is actively seeking a highly experienced and exceptionally qualified Pilot in Command (PIC) for its KC-135 tanker aircraft fleet. The Pilot in Command serves as the aircraft commander, bearing ultimate responsibility for the safe, efficient, and procedurally compliant execution of air-to-air refueling missions and all associated flight operations. This pivotal role demands unparalleled leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to aviation safety standards and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command will be entrusted with a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to:
- Commanding a three-person flight crew, demonstrating effective leadership and managing responses to a wide array of emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
- Executing precise and expeditious pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections, comprehensive checklist adherence, and accurate documentation.
- Maintaining acute situational awareness (SA) and consistently applying robust Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles throughout all phases of flight.
- Rigorously adhering to all company Flight Operations Procedures (FOPs), Ground Operations Procedures (GOPs), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, and critical Safety Notices.
- Ensuring the continuous maintenance of all required flight currencies, qualifications, and advanced systems knowledge pertinent to the MSM KC-135 tanker fleet.
- Performing all other duties as assigned to support mission success and operational readiness.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 100 hours of flight time specifically in KC-135 Aircraft.
- A total of 1000 flight hours is required (military flight hours are converted at a rate of 1 military hour equal to 1.2 civilian hours).
- Demonstrated experience with KC-135 MPRS (Multi-Point Refueling System).
- Possession of a current US Air Force Instrument/Qualification and a KC-135 check-ride completed within the last 12 months.
- Preferred: US Air Force Instrument Pilot (IP) or Evaluator Pilot (EP) experience in the KC-135R model within the previous 51 months.
- Preferred: Experience with KC-135 Block 30 systems.
Skills
- Exceptional ability to accomplish all assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Superior command of the English language, both oral and written, essential for clear communication and precise documentation.
Computer Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
Certificates and Licenses
- A minimum of an FAA Flying Class 2 Physical.
- Current FCC Radiotelegraph Operators Permit.
- Current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or Restricted ATP Certificate.
- Current Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) and Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII) certificates.
- A B-707 Type Rating.
- A current U.S. Passport.
- A valid Driver’s License.
Work Authorization and Security Clearance
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (or higher) U.S. Government Security Clearance is mandatory.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Work Location: Metrea Strategic Mobility Flightline, 17301 Heacock St, Moreno Valley, CA 92551.
- Position Type and Hours: This is a full-time position, with varying working hours designed to meet U.S. government customer requirements and business needs. Exempt employees must be available on-call as business needs dictate.
- Travel: Full-time Pilots are required to fly a minimum of 7 days and no more than 15 days per month.
- Physical Demands: This role involves daily physical activity, including walking, lifting, and reaching overhead, primarily within the operational confines of a KC-135 aircraft.
