This is a crucial, exempt leadership role within a three-pilot flight department responsible for managing a Lear 45 aircraft. The anticipated operational schedule for this aircraft is approximately 300 flight hours annually. The position offers a competitive annual salary of $150,000.00.
Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) assumes the ultimate authority and accountability for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the assigned Lear 45 aircraft. The PIC must ensure strict adherence to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company operating specifications, and established procedures. This role requires exceptional leadership, profound technical expertise, and rigorous risk management capabilities. The successful candidate serves as the final authority on all decisions regarding the aircraft and its operation, ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service are consistently maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command will execute the following core responsibilities:
- Flight Leadership and Safety: Act as the final operational authority for the aircraft, ensuring unparalleled safety standards across all phases of flight. Uphold strict compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Pre-flight Management: Execute comprehensive pre-flight planning, including detailed performance calculations, meticulous weather analysis, optimal routing, precise fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Cultivate a dynamic culture of safety and teamwork by leading and coordinating the flight crew. Ensure seamless communication and professional execution of duties, fostering efficiency and cooperation.
- Exceptional Passenger Service: Deliver the highest caliber of client service, ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and satisfaction throughout the mission. Serve as the primary client liaison for all in-flight requirements.
- Safety Management System (SMS) Engagement: Actively engage with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), utilizing risk analysis tools to identify and mitigate operational hazards, thereby promoting a robust and proactive safety culture.
- Mentorship and Development: Provide effective mentorship, guidance, and clear direction to First Officers and other crew members, fostering professional growth and ensuring complete understanding of operational roles and responsibilities.
- Administrative Compliance: Accurately complete all required post-flight documentation, including detailed trip reports, precise logbook entries, and timely reporting of any maintenance discrepancies or operational concerns to the maintenance team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure continuous personal compliance with all regulatory requirements, including maintaining current required training, medical certifications, and updated flight crew records.
Required Qualifications and Experience

- A valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a Multi-Engine Land rating is strictly required.
- A current First-Class Medical Certificate is mandatory.
- An FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit is highly preferred.
Minimum Flight Hour Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Minimum 5,000 total flight hours.
- Minimum 2,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- Minimum 2,500 hours multi-engine land time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- Minimum 2,000 hours in turbine aircraft.
- Minimum 500 hours instrument time.
Skills and Attributes
