First Officer - Dash 8 Surveillance Fleet

Overview

Leidos is seeking experienced First Officers to join its esteemed Dash 8 surveillance fleet. This is a unique opportunity for pilots to advance their careers, potentially upgrading to Captain or Trainer roles, while undertaking vital, purpose-driven flying missions across Australia's extensive coastline. First Officers can expect an initial annual salary of $105,251.50 plus 12% superannuation, with Captains earning $175,419.17 plus 12% superannuation in their first year, complemented by generous allowances.

Do Work That Matters

Based in Darwin, Cairns, or Broome, this role involves contributing to aerial border surveillance operations under contract with the Australian Government. This is recognized as the world's largest outsourced civil maritime surveillance operation. Every flight directly supports the protection of Australia's borders, resources, and national interests.

Your New Role and Responsibilities

As a First Officer operating within the Dash 8 fleet, key responsibilities include:

  • Operating advanced surveillance aircraft to detect, deter, and report illegal or unsafe activities.
  • Ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient flight operations across diverse environmental conditions.
  • Collaborating effectively with Mission Aircrew and Captains.
  • Contributing to training initiatives, safety protocols, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
  • Representing Leidos with a high degree of professionalism and pride during all missions.

What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact

Essential qualifications and requirements for this position include:

  • Australian citizenship with a current passport.
  • A Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with an Instrument Rating.
  • A CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical certificate.
  • A minimum of 500 hours of total flying time.
  • Completion of ATPL Human Factors training.
  • Eligibility for an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) and AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.

Please note: This role necessitates the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and willing to obtain and hold a baseline security clearance.
