UAS Pilot - Kraus Hamdani Aerospace
Kraus Hamdani Aerospace (KHA), a leading aerospace company specializing in long-endurance unmanned aerial platforms, seeks a skilled and dedicated UAS Pilot to join its growing team in Reno, Nevada. KHA provides innovative solutions for a variety of industries, including aerial reconnaissance, survey, communication relay, and communications provisioning.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy to overseas locations (OCONUS) for 3-12 month periods, rotating with other team members. Primary area of responsibility is CENTCOM.
- Independently perform all assigned functional duties.
- Work and live in a small team environment in austere conditions.
- Define and execute UAS-based scenarios during test and/or training events.
- Understand and interpret customer requirements to ensure effective use of UAS technology in technical exchanges and/or test events.
- Collaborate with both civilian organizations and military units.
Tasks:
- Serve as Pilot in Command.
- Conduct mission planning.
- Manage UAS launch and recovery operations.
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks.
- Execute UAS maintenance procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive UAS logbooks.
- Oversee radio network operations to support UAS activities, including systems like Silvus and TrellisWare.
- Assist with site assessments and advise teams on the potential application of UAS.
- Coordinate with national and international intelligence agencies.
- Develop data sharing capabilities, trend analysis, and associated procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and act as safety officer for all flight operations.
- Provide detailed technical post-flight analysis and log file reviews.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience with ArduPilot and Mission Planner using Fixed Wing aircraft.
- Demonstrated experience with hobbyist fixed wing RC and/or other UAS platforms.
- Ability to operate IFR, read and interpret sectional charts, airspace hazards, topography, airport data, and navigate controlled airspace.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with ATC operations and coordinate air-to-air interactions with other aircraft and airspace management agencies.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification or be eligible to obtain certification.
- Must hold an Amateur Radio Technician License or be eligible to obtain certification.
Beneficial:
- Prior manned pilot experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with Group 2/Group 3 UAS fixed wing platforms is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the ISR mission set and associated systems, including FMV payload operation, is beneficial.
- Knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) is a plus.
- Understanding of a wide range of UAS components and UAS flight control software is preferred.
- Ability to research emerging UAS technologies, describe their advantages, and assess their impact on DoD capabilities.
- Capacity to effectively communicate technical UAS knowledge to others, providing insights into technology, capabilities, limitations, and impacts to DoD capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in pre-deployment training and knowledge exchange supporting field training exercises (FTX), Validation Exercises (VALEX), and other technical exchange events.
- BA/BS degree with 0-3 years of experience or AA/AS degree with 4 years of experience or HS/GED with 6 years of experience is a plus.
- Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain a secret security clearance is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and intelligence-related automation to support analytical efforts is desirable.
