Position Purpose

The First Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft. This vital position involves diligently assisting the Captain and flight crew, adhering strictly to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established company policies and procedures. The First Officer is expected to consistently apply Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles to foster a secure and collaborative cockpit environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the First Officer include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing comprehensive pre-flight inspections of the aircraft and its cargo.
  • Assisting the flight crew with all necessary operational documentation and paperwork.
  • Operating the aircraft with meticulous precision, maintaining strict adherence to company policy, aviation regulations, and established procedures.
  • Vigilantly identifying and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions observed on the ground or during flight.
  • Conducting thorough post-flight inspections of the aircraft.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is a prerequisite for this role; however, post-secondary education is highly preferred. While previous experience under Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 121 operations is advantageous, it is not an absolute requirement.

Language Skills

Exceptional proficiency in English is essential, encompassing the ability to read, write, and comprehend both spoken and written communication. The First Officer must also be adept at composing routine reports and professional correspondence.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Valid FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate or a Restricted Multi-Engine ATP Certificate.
  • A minimum of 2500 hours of total flight time is required, with 4000 hours preferred. For military aviators, a minimum of 1000 hours total time is acceptable, with flexibility regarding turbine and Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • Minimum 1500 hours of turbine (jet) flight time.
  • Minimum 500 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) turbine (jet) flight time.
  • Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Valid FCC Radio License.
  • No restrictions on international travel.
  • Current U.S. Passport.
  • Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive 10-year security background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical Demands

The role requires the physical capability to ascend and descend stairs, work comfortably in a confined area for extended periods, and lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment

The First Officer will perform duties both within the cockpit and externally, necessitating adaptability to a wide spectrum of meteorological conditions, including extreme temperatures (cold and heat).
