Kalitta Air, a leading cargo airline based in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Pilot for its B747 fleet. This key leadership position supports the Chief Pilot in overseeing daily flight operations and managing pilot personnel.

About the Role

The Assistant Chief Pilot plays a crucial role in the operational efficiency and regulatory compliance of Kalitta Air's flight department. Responsibilities include managing pilot activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards, and contributing to the hiring and development of flight crew. The role involves active participation in crew bulletins, manual updates, and departmental coordination to maintain FAA, ICAO, and EASA compliance. Additionally, the Assistant Chief Pilot will act on behalf of the Chief Pilot as required and perform line-qualified pilot duties, including operating the B747 in diverse conditions.

Requirements

• FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate (ATPL) or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate.
• Minimum 2500 hours of total flight time; 4000 hours preferred.
• For candidates with a military background, a minimum of 1000 hours of total flight time is required.
• Minimum 1500 hours of turbine (jet) flight time.
• Minimum 500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) turbine (jet) flight time.
• A current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• FCC Radio License.
• A current US Passport with no restrictions on international travel.
• Ability to successfully complete the Kalitta Air Captain upgrade program on the B747 or B777.
• Eligibility to pass a 10-year security background check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Previous experience in roles such as Check Airman, Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, Fleet Manager, or Director of Operations at a FAR 121/135 carrier is preferred.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience operating Boeing aircraft is preferred.
