Job Summary
Jet OUT is actively recruiting a highly qualified Base Chief Pilot to enhance and maintain exceptional standards of professionalism and safety within its flight operations. The Base Chief Pilot will serve as the direct supervisor and primary point of contact for all pilots assigned to the Dallas base. This pivotal role focuses on supporting pilots and flight department personnel, facilitating seamless communication between base employees and Jet OUT's main office.
A comprehensive understanding of Jet OUT’s General Operations Manual, General Training Manual, Operations Specifications, and all other company-issued manuals is essential. Additionally, deep knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) for aircraft based at the location is required.
Key responsibilities include participating in pilot recruitment, including interviews, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training and mentorship. The Base Chief Pilot will also conduct recurrent training, checking events, and regular performance evaluations for base pilots. This position requires effective management of interpersonal, performance, and disciplinary matters, coordination of local pilot schedules and training, and implementation of new and updated operational procedures to support Jet OUT's growth.
Occasional travel to Milwaukee, WI, other Jet OUT bases, and various training locations will be necessary to support flight operations.
As a member of Jet OUT's management team, the Base Chief Pilot will also represent the company in interactions with local Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs) and other service providers. Responsibilities extend to safety and security protocols, including facilitating local drug testing. Additional duties may be assigned by senior leadership to support company expansion.
The Base Chief Pilot plays an integral role in upholding the highest safety and operational efficiency standards, directly contributing to the overall success of Jet OUT.
Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Chief Pilot.
- Maintains close communication with the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations regarding departmental operations.
- Maintains pilot-in-command proficiency on the CJ4 aircraft.
- Participates in pilot recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and separation processes.
- Supervises local flight crew personnel.
- Mentors newly hired flight crew members.
- Coordinates with the Training Manager on flight crew training requirements.
- Conducts or oversees training activities for flight crews.
- Performs and supervises FAA Part 135.293a and 135.299 checking events.
- Conducts regular performance evaluations for flight crew members.
- Manages local pilot flight schedules and coordinates commuter pilot scheduling.
- Addresses local pilot performance, interpersonal, and disciplinary issues.
- Submits all reports concerning flight crew personnel to the Chief Pilot.
- Facilitates effective communication between the local base and Jet OUT's main offices.
- Ensures all aircraft are equipped appropriately for applicable operations.
- Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with the Chief Pilot and/or Director of Operations.
- Assists in the formulation and coordination of Jet OUT's operations policies and training programs.
- Contributes to updates of manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and checklists.
- Maintains crew flight and duty records and ensures compliance with operational and safety standards set by Jet OUT and the FAA.
- Oversees the distribution and posting of all information or memoranda pertaining to changes affecting company policy, route information, navaids, NOTAMs, flying aids, and aeronautical charts.
- Ensures all flight crew personnel are certified and supervised in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Part 135 or Part 121 operations.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in turbojet operations.
- ATP Pilot Certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) rating.
- Current 1st Class Medical Certificate.
- 3,500 hours of Total Flight Time.
- 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Flight Time.
- 500 hours of Turbofan Flight Time.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit.
- Must reside within a one-hour commute of Fort Worth (FTW) or Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan area.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience as PIC in Part 135 or Part 121 operations.
- 4,000 hours of Total Flight Time.
- CE-525 Type Rating.
- 100 hours of CE-525 flight time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or a related field.
- International flight operations experience.

Salary & Compensation
Salary: $150,000 annually, with regular salary increases based on years of service.
Bonus Opportunity
To be eligible for the bonus opportunity, applicants must first be approved by insurance to act as PIC after successfully completing Jet OUT’s Captain OE (25 hours), already possess a PIC CE-525 type rating, and successfully complete initial company training.
