Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight assignments, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. The Captain holds ultimate authority for the safe execution of the flight and exercises decisive leadership in accordance with company operating policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- Maintain a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- Accumulated 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight experience
- Exceed 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight experience
- Logged 2,000 hours as Pilot in Command
- Achieved 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time
- Possess 1,500 hours of turbine flight time
- Completed 100 hours of night flight experience
- Gained 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight experience
- Demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of aviation experience
- Ability to maintain flexible work schedules
- Willingness and capability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
- Possess a valid driver's license
Main Responsibilities:
- Safe and proficient operation of the aircraft, including determination of departure times and routes, as well as flight cancellations based on weather or other prevailing conditions.
- Strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout each flight.
- Implementation of necessary adjustments based on en route conditions, ensuring continued flight operations within company standards.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, upholding industry and company standards.
- Accurate completion of all trip paperwork adhering to current procedures.
- Maintenance of comprehensive and clear communication with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Prompt reporting of any aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log, followed by immediate communication to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Determination of the flight crew's fitness for duty, ensuring proper attire and mental and physical readiness.
- Maintenance of a thorough understanding of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if necessary or instructed by company management.
- Acquisition of the most recent weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or authorized agency.
- Filing or initiation of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Comprehensive analysis of area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Fulfilment of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) duties under the provisions of the 12-5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Delivery of passenger safety briefings or delegation of this duty to the Second in Command.
- Transfer of knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon their upgrade to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Timely submission of the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Completion and submission of the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Active participation in the open sharing of information regarding safety issues and the reporting of all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediate reporting of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegation of duties as deemed appropriate, while retaining full responsibility for their successful execution.
- Willingness to perform other duties as required.
- Representation of Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally, including interactions with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
