Position Summary:
This position reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Gulfstream G280 flights, adhering to all company policies and procedures. The Captain exercises ultimate authority for the safe conduct of each flight and prioritizes safety, security, and quality in all operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing Experience
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land Experience
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command Experience
- 1500 hours Turbojet Experience
- 1500 hours Turbine Time
- 100 hours Night Experience
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument Experience
- 5 years of aviation experience
- Flexibility to work varied schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
- Valid Driver's License
Main Responsibilities:
- Safe operation of the aircraft, including determining departure times and routes, and cancelling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implementing necessary changes during flight based on en route conditions while maintaining adherence to company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner according to industry and company standards.
- Accurately completing all trip paperwork as per current procedures.
- Ensuring a thorough understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved MEL and, as directed by the DOM or his designee, determine if an inoperative item can be deferred or needs repair and complete the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Ensuring that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or causing a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Performing the functions of the TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program or private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conducting required passenger safety briefings or assigning the duty to the Second in Command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completing and sending the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
- Completing and sending the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegating duties as necessary, while retaining responsibility for them.
- Performing other duties as required.
- Representing Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
