Job Overview
Jet Aviation seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain to join its team in Dulles, Virginia. This is an onsite position, offering the opportunity to work within a dynamic aviation environment. The Lead Captain reports directly to the regional chief pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Falcon 2000 EX aircraft, upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and quality.
Responsibilities
The Lead Captain will exercise pilot in command authority on all assigned flights, serving as the final authority for flight safety. Key responsibilities include:
- Flight Operations: Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Crew Management: Coordinate flight schedules and training with the flight crew, customer service representatives, and supplemental crew as needed.
- Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, and other maintenance requirements.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping: Ensure assigned crew members submit and review flight and duty records, and all other required documentation.
- Training and Development: In conjunction with the Manager of Training, coordinate crew member training and check rides based on the annual training calendar.
- Crew Scheduling and Performance: Coordinate time off and training events while maintaining maximum aircraft coverage. Evaluate crew member performance and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provide guidance and support to crew members to facilitate their professional development.
- Hiring and Account Management: Assist in the hiring of flight crew and support the Account Director as requested.
- Safety and Reporting: Take an active role in promoting safety, reporting all safety hazards and concerns, and immediately reporting any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the chief pilot and director of safety.
- Aircraft Systems and Procedures: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Weather and Flight Planning: Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS and file or cause flight plans to be filed.
- Security and Passenger Briefings: Perform the functions of the TSA Flight Security Coordinator and conduct passenger safety briefings.
- Communication and Reporting: Complete and submit leg manifests and End of Day reports to Operations Control.
- Industry Representation: Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing Time
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land Time
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command Time
- 1500 hours Turbojet Time
- 1500 hours Turbine Time
- 100 hours Night Time
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument Time
- 5 years of Aviation Experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without restrictions
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Physical Demands
The role requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting, as well as occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads.
Work Environment
The work environment involves exposure to a heavy maintenance environment, upscale customer areas, moderate to loud noise levels, vibration, occasional fuel fumes, and a variety of weather conditions. Employees must be comfortable working in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
