Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of assigned flight assignments, with paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Captain exercises Pilot in Command authority for all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of the flight. This role requires strict adherence to company operating policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet time.
- 1500 hours Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Must be willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and cancelling flights based on weather or other conditions as necessary.
- Ensure complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute all necessary changes required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company guidelines and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure thorough understanding and communication with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and immediately report discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and determine if the item can be deferred or needs repair as directed by the DOM or designee, completing the discrepancy log accordingly.
- Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized to operate, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the Inflight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program as applicable.
- Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Take an active role supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Make an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate these duties but not the responsibility for their successful completion.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to use hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting is required. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment encompasses both heavy maintenance areas and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. Hangar environments may experience extreme temperatures depending on the season.
