Pilot - Cherokee 6

Island Air Service seeks qualified and experienced pilots for permanent, year-round Cherokee 6 positions. This role offers the opportunity to join a well-regarded organization known for its comprehensive training program, specifically designed to prepare pilots for the unique challenges of flying in the Kodiak environment. The program cultivates capable and confident pilots adept at navigating the specific conditions of the region.

Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of 500 hours, meeting Part 135 VFR requirements, with a preference for those holding 1000 hours or more. Primary responsibilities include operating scheduled and charter flights to six villages on Kodiak Island. The pilot must be proficient in loading and unloading aircraft, adept at managing unpredictable weather patterns, and experienced with operating on short, gravel runways.

Career progression opportunities are available. After one year of service flying the Cherokee 6, pilots may be considered for transition to the Cessna Caravan. After two years in the wheel program, qualified candidates may be offered the chance to join the float program, operating Cessna 185, 206, and De Havilland Beaver aircraft.
