The Role:
The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and positive experience for all Horizon Air guests while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. This position reports to the Captain and is represented by the Air Line Pilots Association.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Second in Command, responsible for all aspects of flight operations, including preflight preparation, safe flight conduct, and post-flight duties.
- Comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), Company Flight Procedures, and Company Policies to ensure the safety of all flights.
- Coordinate with ground crews for fueling, loading, passenger handling, and other related tasks.
- Demonstrate exceptional Cockpit Resource Management skills and collaborate effectively with other operational departments.
- Maintain a professional image, including adherence to grooming standards, serving as a key representative of Horizon Air to both internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time to serve as pilot in command in Part 121 operations (specific requirements detailed in FAR ยง 121.436(a)(3)). Proof of flight time will be verified during the interview process.
- Minimum 1,465 hours of total flight time or R-ATP qualification.
- 500 hours of cross-country flight time (200 if R-ATP or military qualified).
- 100 hours of night flight time.
- 250 hours as pilot in command, including 100 hours of cross-country and 25 hours of night flight time.
- 75 hours of instrument flight time (actual or simulated).
- 25 hours of multi-engine flight time.
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
- Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S. (without a TRP).
- Valid Driver's License.
- Excellent judgment, leadership skills, demonstrated command ability, and maturity.
- Willingness to accept a base assignment in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA, based on company needs.
- Flexibility to work multiple days away from home, including weekends and holidays, on a varied schedule.
- Fluency in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
- 100 hours of multi-engine flight time.
- 100 hours flown in the last 12 months.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Generous sign-on bonus: Up to $25,000 based on prior qualifying flight time.
- Competitive salary: Starting at $91.35 per hour.
- Monthly pay guarantee: 75 credit hours for jet aircraft.
- Reserve pay guarantee: 73 credit hours.
- Prior Part 121 Longevity Pay Credit: Year-for-year match for hourly rates with no cap for pilots with prior Part 121 experience.
