First Officer Job Description
This position reports to the Chief Pilot and is responsible to the Captain for the conduct and execution of assigned duties during flight operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Captain in discharging all safety responsibilities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers.
- Perform assigned duties during flight preparation and in-flight operations.
- Be prepared to assume the duties of the Pilot in Command in the event the Pilot in Command is incapacitated.
- Be thoroughly familiar with and adhere to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies relevant to assigned duties.
- Comply with schedules and other directives governing aircraft operations.
- Ensure preflight inspections are conducted meticulously.
- Study weather conditions at the destination, en route, alternate airports, and departure points.
- Ensure the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight, with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of passengers.
- Review and calculate aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts.
- Utilize checklists effectively during all phases of flight.
- Assist the Captain in making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights, and deviate the flight from the planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
- Oversee refueling and servicing of the aircraft as instructed by the Captain.
- Assist in loading and unloading baggage and perform other services as required to expedite passenger handling.
- Complete all required aircraft forms, logs, records, and reports accurately and timely.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Aviation, Business, or a related field.
License and Preferred Experience Requirements:
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane required.
- First Class Medical Certificate required.
- 1,500 hours total flight time, 500 hours of fixed-wing Pilot-in-Command experience, 500 hours of multi-engine, 250 turbojet or turboprop experience in a crew environment preferred.
- No accidents, incidents, or FAA violations required.
- Valid Driver's License required.

- Environment: Work is performed in both internal and external environments, with exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures. Work is also performed in an airplane, requiring attention to detail, long hours, long periods without breaks, and independent judgment regarding the safety of flight conditions.
- Physical: The primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination; travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and verbally communicate to exchange information.
- Vision: Must meet standards for visual acuity.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
