Senior Manager, Flight Operations Advanced Qualification Program (AQP)
Frontier Airlines seeks a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Manager to lead the development, implementation, and certification of Advanced Qualification Programs (AQP) for pilots, instructors, and evaluators. This pivotal role ensures compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and best practices in instructional system design, contributing significantly to the safety and operational efficiency of Frontier Airlines. The position is full-time, based in Aurora, CO, and offers a competitive salary ranging from $151,824 to $201,520.
Responsibilities:
This position demands a proactive and strategic leader capable of:
- Developing, implementing, and obtaining approval for Frontier Airlines' AQP for pilots, instructors, and evaluators, as delegated by the Director, Flight Ops Training.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of AQP policies and procedures, ensuring strict adherence to FAA regulations.
- Serving as a subject matter expert, collaborating effectively with the FAA and facilitating both internal and external audits.
- Establishing and implementing a robust Instructional Systems Design Methodology for curriculum development, incorporating innovative technologies for efficient training.
- Conducting thorough analyses and evaluations of internal and external audits to ensure the program effectively addresses operational complexities and risks.
- Close collaboration with the Director, Flight Operations Training in curriculum development.
- Implementing a systematic approach for assessing and documenting identified safety management system (SMS) items for AQP integration.
- Providing accurate and timely training data for FAA reporting.
- Managing communications with the FAA, including quarterly and annual standardization meetings.
- Coordinating effectively with internal departments, the FAA, ALPA, and other relevant organizations.
- Leading and managing a dedicated team responsible for AQP execution.
- Demonstrating enthusiasm for aviation, knowledge transfer, and the Frontier brand.
- Fostering cross-departmental collaboration and leadership.
- Coordinating with the training and standards team for trend analysis and risk assessment.
- Tracking safety trends and implementing recommendations.
- Participating in monthly safety meetings.
- Administering the SMS within the area of responsibility, identifying hazards, assessing safety risks, and managing change.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of safety risk controls and promoting a strong safety culture.
- Advising upper management on SMS performance and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate possesses:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (required).
- Extensive experience in developing and managing 14 CFR 121 Air Carrier Training and Evaluation Programs.
- Minimum two years of training experience in transport category aircraft (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of FAA AQP documents (e.g., AC 120-54, FAR Subpart Y, 8900.1 Vol 3, Chap 21).
- At least five years of experience developing AQP systems, with at least two AQP programs in Phase IV (required).
- Experience with Small Group Tryouts as mandated by AQP (preferred).
- Proven experience with Data Analysis and Reporting Systems (required).
- Previous management experience (preferred).
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated by effective communication and collaboration with all levels of management and employees.
- Appropriate Airman and Aircraft certifications.
- Experience working with the FAA and other regulatory agencies.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of MINT TMS (preferred).
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal clients and vendors.
- Excellent telephone, administrative, and record-keeping skills.
