Purpose of the Position:
The Second in Command plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of flight training. This individual will be responsible for maintaining currency in assigned programs and acting as "Second-In-Command" during training sessions. The Second in Command will provide support to both internal and external customer pilots participating in recurrent, initial, or generic training courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a competent Second-in-Command for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who require a flying partner, without performing instructional duties.
- Maintain impeccable SIC pilot qualifications in accordance with assigned program requirements.
- Uphold SIC qualification standards as outlined by FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
- Maintain all necessary certificates, ratings, and designations required to perform duties as a Second in Command.
- Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 2-3 years of related experience and/or training is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
- Minimum of 450 flight hours.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent cockpit communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse customer base.
- Adaptability to changing schedules and high-pressure environments.
- A second language may be required at certain learning centers.
Physical Requirements:
This position demands specific physical capabilities to ensure safe and effective performance, including:
- Full range of body motion for operating rudder controls, manipulating simulator controls, and safely entering and exiting the simulator device, even under challenging conditions.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
Work Environment:
The work environment may involve exposure to:
- Moving mechanical parts.
