Purpose of the Position
Executive Jet Management is seeking a Director, Flight Operations, Pilot Hiring to join its Cincinnati-based onsite team. This role serves as the internal expert and primary decision-maker for pilot hiring, responsible for evaluating candidates' interpersonal skills and technical expertise to determine their suitability for employment at EJM. The Director oversees the complete crew hiring process, addressing operational and organizational challenges and implementing continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing the quality of hires, reducing time-to-fill, and optimizing the candidate experience, all while maintaining safety as the paramount priority.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Director will be responsible for:
- Reviewing resumes following initial screening conducted by the Talent Acquisition team.
- Applying extensive pilot expertise during in-person and virtual interviews with pilot candidates, participating in multiple interviews daily and weekly.
- Regularly assessing performance information to evaluate past pilot performance and confirm qualifications meet EJM employment standards.
- Collaborating closely with the Talent Acquisition team and Regional Chief Pilots throughout the candidate hiring lifecycle.
- Modeling professional communication standards in all interactions and fostering supportive, motivating relationships across the organization.
- Balancing EJM's overarching hiring standards with specific account-level requirements for optimal candidate selection.
- Managing additional responsibilities, including IOE implementation and tracking, supporting the pilot onboarding process, and developing and facilitating training for Lead Pilots.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management is required.
Years of Experience
Candidates should possess 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements (KSAOs)
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Status as a senior aviation professional and a skilled fixed-wing pilot (past or current) with a strong background in the day-to-day operational demands of a responsive Part 91/135 organization. Optional occasional Part 135 flying may be available.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities.
- A proactive approach to decision-making.
- The potential requirement to obtain an FAA Type rating in an applicable Fleet type.
- The capacity to uphold high service standards within a strict and evolving regulatory environment.
- Previous experience with resume review and interviewing is preferred.
- Experience facilitating and/or developing training content.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal aptitude.
- Demonstrated proficiency using computers and Microsoft's suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
