Position Overview: Pilot in Command (PIC)
Executive Jet Management, a proud Berkshire Hathaway company, is actively seeking a highly qualified Pilot in Command to join a well-established flight department. This dynamic team supports a fleet consisting of three aircraft, eleven pilots, four maintenance technicians, and one flight attendant, operating from bases at Dupage and Midway Airports in Chicago, Illinois. This specific opportunity focuses on piloting the Gulfstream G280 aircraft at MDW and DPA airports, conducting operations under both Part 91 and Part 135 regulations for domestic and international destinations.
The Pilot in Command (PIC) bears the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all flights are conducted in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. The PIC is committed to adhering to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an exceptional service experience to all passengers.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight
- Verifies that all crewing and trip assignments strictly comply with company and regulatory mandates.
- Completes comprehensive flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance assessments for each assigned flight.
- Employs the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead all required briefings and effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Adheres to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborates seamlessly with company personnel as needed. Assumes the roles of Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as stipulated by company policy.
- Conducts all pre-flight aircraft tasks, including a thorough review of the aircraft's maintenance status, to confirm mission capability. Records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
- Oversees and ensures all aircraft ground servicing requirements (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are monitored and executed in strict accordance with SOPs.
- Performs passenger briefings in compliance with company policy and regulatory standards. Strives to deliver the highest caliber of customer service and accommodate the specific needs of passengers, including those with physical challenges.
- Leverages Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to facilitate clear and timely communication with crew members and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operational scenarios.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience
- Provides superior service to aircraft owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the overall EJM service experience. Proactively investigates and resolves any service deviations encountered.
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members and EJM internal stakeholders to ensure a consistently exceptional service experience for all owners and passengers. Manages and resolves conflicts and challenges in an acceptable and professional manner.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance
- Maintains all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Complies with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and reports any safety or non-compliance concerns through the designated channels.

Qualifications and Requirements
Certifications and Licenses
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
- First Class Medical Certificate
- Valid U.S. Passport
Experience
- 4-6 years of progressive aviation experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other (KSAOs)
- Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is highly preferred.
- Possession of an FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Gulfstream G280).
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total Flight Time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
- PIC Multi-Engine Land (PIC MEL): 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet Flight Time: 500 hours
Base Salary Range
The estimated base salary range for this position varies by aircraft cabin size:
- Small/Mid/Supermid Cabin Aircraft: $160,000 - $325,000
- Large/Heavy/Premium Cabin Aircraft: $160,000 - $425,000
