Position Summary and Key Responsibilities
Executive Jet Management is seeking highly qualified and experienced candidates for the critical role of Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) to operate a Gulfstream G550 aircraft based at St. Paul International Airport (STP) in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is a non-commutable position, requiring the successful candidate to reside within a one-hour driving radius of the STP airport.
This dedicated G550 operation utilizes a four-pilot crew and focuses primarily on Part 91 domestic flights, supplemented by a limited number of international trips annually. The flight department is expertly supported by two dedicated Maintenance Technicians.
The Lead Pilot in Command serves as a peer-leader to the designated flight department. This influential role focuses on championing effective crew resource management (CRM), ensuring superior client service, and diligently completing essential flight department administrative duties. The Lead PIC actively participates in the flying schedule and adheres to all standard Pilot in Command duties and operational expectations.
Leadership and Flight Department Success
- Serves as the primary representative for managing crucial client relationships, effectively balancing the needs of the client with the operational standards of EJM.
- Participates in quarterly meetings with the client's dedicated Aircraft Committee.
- Collaborates closely with assigned maintenance personnel (or company designees) to ensure strict compliance with all aircraft maintenance events (scheduled and unscheduled) and timely completion of regular tasks, including database updates, audits, and checklist reviews.
- Completes required aircraft owner/account duties, such as invoice review, auditing processes, vendor relations management, charter approval coordination, and crew scheduling, in accordance with defined expectations.
- Motivates and supports flight department crew members, ensuring comprehensive understanding of operational requirements, driving goal achievement, and professionally representing the EJM brand. Reports any significant concerns or issues directly to the Regional Chief Pilot.
- Manages essential flight department administration, including aircraft and office supplies, subscription services, crew schedules, and associated crewmember communication.
Safe Operation of Flight and Risk Mitigation
- Ensures all crew assignments and trip assignments strictly comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Diligently completes comprehensive flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for every flight assignment.
- Leads all required briefings utilizing the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) methodology to proactively mitigate operational risks.
- Adheres meticulously to company SOPs and coordinates effectively with company personnel as required. Serves as the Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator, as defined by company policy.
- Completes all required aircraft pre-flight tasks, including verifying the aircraft’s maintenance status, to ensure mission capability. Accurately records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
- Monitors and ensures the accomplishment of all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) in strict adherence to SOPs.
- Conducts thorough passenger briefings in compliance with company policy and regulations, while delivering the highest level of customer service and addressing any special passenger needs (e.g., physically challenged passengers).
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to ensure clear, timely communication with all crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Exceptional Service Delivery and Professionalism
- Provides premium quality service to aircraft owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Promptly investigates and resolves any service deviations.
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to deliver a consistent, world-class service experience. Manages conflict and challenging situations professionally.
Maintaining Compliance and Proficiency
- Maintains all regulatory and company-required training, currency, and recency of experience.
- Complies fully with the company Safety Management System (SMS) program and reports safety or non-compliance concerns through designated channels.
- Ensures all assigned crewmembers remain fully qualified to act in their assigned capacities in accordance with regulatory mandates and company policy.
- Verifies that all crewmembers comply with company policies and that appropriate internal audits are conducted.

Required Qualifications (KSAOs) and Experience
Certifications and Licenses
- Current FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- Valid U.S. Passport
- FAA Type Rating in the applicable fleet (G550 preferred)
Years of Experience and Minimum Time Requirements
- A minimum of 8–10 years of professional aviation experience is required.
- Minimum of two years of Management experience (five years preferred).
- Prior Lead Captain experience in corporate or business aviation is mandatory.
- Minimum Flight Hours:
- Total Flight Time: 5,000 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 3,000 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2,000 hours
- PIC Multi Engine Land (MEL): 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet Time: 2,500 hours
- International flight experience is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions associated with the position.
