Position Summary and Objective
FlyExclusive is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician Level 2 to join its team in Kinston, North Carolina. This full-time position is critical for ensuring the airworthiness and operational readiness of the company's fleet through precise maintenance, thorough inspections, and expert repair work, all in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The Airframe and Powerplant Technician Level 2 will be responsible for a comprehensive range of maintenance and repair activities, including but not limited to:
- Performing regular scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on diverse aircraft systems.
- Accurately estimating work duration and material requirements for assigned tasks through effective project management.
- Interpreting and utilizing blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and sketches to troubleshoot, repair, and install aircraft components and parts.
- Conducting meticulous pre-flight mechanical system checks to ensure optimal operational condition and safety.
- Maintaining precise and comprehensive records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and associated reports.
- Executing detailed inspections of engines, airframes, propellers, tails, and other critical components to identify and rectify defects such as cracks, corrosion, or wear.
- Inspecting hoses and lubricating joints, performing replacements or repairs as necessary to maintain system integrity.
- Consulting maintenance manuals and technical specifications to ensure precise operations, replacements, and repairs.
- Efficiently installing new, repaired, or enhanced parts in strict accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Performing sheet metal repairs as needed to restore structural integrity.
- Utilizing a variety of tests and specialized tools to verify the proper function of engines and operating systems.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical problems based on visual inspections or reports received from pilots or crew members.
- Performing other related aviation maintenance duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.
- Possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and their intricate interactions.
- Thorough understanding of current FAA regulations, Inspection Procedures Manuals (IPM), and Air Transport Association (ATA) codes (including Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations).
- Authorization to work lawfully in the United States, requiring presentation of two forms of federal identification.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check prior to employment, including verification of employment history, education, and criminal records.
- Ability to perform duties in a Safety-Sensitive role, subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in compliance with FAA guidelines.

- Clear and effective communication skills across various platforms (phone, email, in-person correspondence).
- Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, as operational demands require.
- Strong cognitive processing abilities, including memorization, reasoning, rapid learning, problem-solving, and adaptability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four to seven (4-7) years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience.
- Prior experience with Corridor aviation maintenance software.
- Candidates with Business Corporate Jet experience will be given priority.
- Scissor Lift Certified (Preferred).
- Forklift Certified (Preferred).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role primarily operates in typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments. The technician may encounter exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and elevated noise levels, both inside and outside the hangar. Work also involves navigating tight, cramped spaces within business aircraft interiors and potential exposure to various extreme weather conditions and loud noises from aircraft machinery and jet engines.
The position requires significant physical stamina and dexterity. Candidates must possess the ability to see and hear clearly, and to read, comprehend, and speak English fluently. Physical requirements include climbing, twisting, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and moving in tight quarters. The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods is essential. Manual dexterity and physical strength are necessary for operating tools and performing adjustments and repairs. Visual acuity is required for equipment inspection and defect identification, and auditory ability for assessing aircraft functionality. The role also involves performing work on scaffolding or ladders and regularly lifting, moving, pulling, and pushing objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Additional Requirements
- A well-groomed appearance and strict adherence to departmental dress code standards are required.
- Limited travel, typically less than 10%, may be required for specific assignments or training.
