Position Summary

As the Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) Non-Flying, your primary responsibility will be supporting the day-to-day functionality of Clay Lacy Aviation’s Flight Operations. You will ensure positive communications and information flow between Clay Lacy Aviation (CLA) and CLA pilots. You will also assist the Chief Pilot (CP) in overseeing all aspects of the Pilots and ensures compliance with the CLA OPS Manual, Flight Crew Policy Manual, and Safety Management System (SMS).

Responsibilities

+ Ensure, in conjunction with the CP, Director of Operation, and Director of Safety that Flight Crew Members comply with the company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

+ Ensures compliance with CLA’s General Operating Manual (GOM) including training records, medical records, FAA checks, duty logs, flight logs, I-PAD / EFB updates, OPS SPEC updates, works close with CLA’s Director of Flight Standards

+ Oversees the development and management of the company’s Lead Pilots, ensures two-way communications are taking place between the Chief Pilots Office and Pilots

+ Assist in the supervision of pilot personnel, which includes training, problem resolution performance evaluation; making recommendations for personnel actions; and motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

+ Works closely with CLA Product Line Leadership Team (Maintenance, FBO, Charter, Aircraft Management,) in resolving both internal and external issues with our managed fleet.

+ Works closely with the Chief Pilot to ensure that we have sufficient Pilot capacity to support both Client and Charter operations, meet revenue and aircraft owner goals, and maintain an adequate quality of life for crewmembers.

+ Coordinates required pilot training with the Director of Training to ensure that training is completed in a timely manner and addresses areas of concern coming from CLA’s SMS Program.

+ Responsible for the selection of flight personnel for advancement and upgrading in accordance with Company policy and FAA requirements.

+ Coordinate recruiting efforts with the HR team

+ Advise on qualifications requirements for new positions.

+ Approves open positions by initiating requisitions.

+ Provide final approval on offer letters for pilots.

+ Participate in pilot technical interviews and act as ambassadors at recruiting events.

+ Participate in lead pilot development.

+ Completes required documentation for aircraft, position, and pay changes for crewmembers

+ Participate in annual salary survey evaluations

+ Monitor flight crew activity and statistics. Advise on staffing needs and crew upgrades.

+ Administer HR functions at the supervisor level, document performance issues, and Performance Improvement Plans as required.

+ Assists the Director of Operations and Director of Training ensuring pilot training and currency requirements are met, advising on aircrew training.

+ Manage PIC Line Checks and IOE training

+ Follows up on changes with training and crew records to ensure FL3XX qualifications and aircraft tail assignments are accurately updated.

+ Provide oversight to the crew day off process and requesting of PTO, and Short-Term Disability impacts

+ Advises crewing and crew records of pilot status changes that may affect crewmember and aircraft availability.

+ Attend (in person or remote) required meetings (i.e., onboarding, training and standards, weekend review)

+ Drive employee engagement. Communicate regularly with crewmembers and advise on system improvements

+ Work in OCC on a rotational schedule for Safety, HR, Recruiting, Training, and Flight Operations support.

+ Act as Flight Operations point of contact for Trip Support and Operational and Crew Related issues.

+ Other responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Education

+ ATP license required

+ An associate degree (preferred) with 3 years’ experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

+ Must have at least 5 years’ previous experience as a PIC operating in both a Part 91 & Part 135 or 121 environment. Experience operating within an Aircraft Management company is desired.

+ Previous experience in the Part 135 environment is a critical success factor for this position.

+ Experience in management and/or a check airman for a 135 or 121 operator

+ Ability to travel 25%-50% to offsite locations to meet with Leads Pilots, Pilots, and customers.
