Position Details

Cathay Pacific is recruiting for a Hong Kong-based First Officer position.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates are invited to apply for the Hong Kong-based First Officer position if they meet the following criteria:

  • Possess an ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR), and have completed ATPL examinations without exemption or conversion.
  • Hold a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Demonstrate ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or above.
  • Accumulate a minimum of 1,500 total flying hours (3,000 hours preferred), which must include:
    • A minimum of 500 hours as Pilot in Command (P1), with a maximum of 250 hours allowed as Pilot in Command Under Supervision (P1 U/S). (Please refer to HKCAD for specific ATPL(A) requirements).

Additionally, candidates must meet either requirement A) or B) below:

A) Multi-Crew Operations Experience:

  • 500 hours on civil aircraft operating in multi-crew environments with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 45,000 kg.

Or

B) Broader Multi-Crew Operations Experience:

  • 1,500 hours on civil aircraft certified for multi-crew operations with an MTOW exceeding 10,000 kg, or on aircraft certified and configured for more than 19 passengers. This experience must include:
    • 500 hours (including at least 250 P1 and/or P1 U/S hours) within the preceding 5 years.
  • Or 100 sectors flown within the preceding 5 years.

The selection process includes a pre-employment medical check (including HKCAD Class 1 Medical) and a background check (including criminal records). Successful candidates will be considered for placement on any fleet type operated by Cathay Pacific, including the A321neo, A330, A350, B777, and B747.

Please note that due to the safety-sensitive nature of this role, a pre-employment drug test is also required, conducted in accordance with HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances - Annex B, CAD373.
